There is a theory that intelligent developed thro mushrooms. But it isn’t widely accepted because that’s not how evolution works.
Sad to say, I know about this as “the stoned ape theory” because Joe Rogan always used to yap about it.

I highly recommend the book Food of the Gods by Terrence McKenna, which is about this very subject.
He just thought it would be easier to collect mushrooms if you could punch them out of question mark blocks.
