im actually concerned that these lemmy communities are being insular and promoting mentally unhealthy behaviors like being hostile to someone saying wishing death on public figures is bad.
I dont have an answer on how to tackle the problem since I dont know these people, but they should be encouraged to be more vulnerable and we should meet them with compassion and understanding.
On principle I agree that wishing someone would take their own life is not healthy, but there are exceptions to every rule. There are probably quite a few people here who have lost someone close to them because of bullying by people like Rowling. Not to mention that people like her have turned occasional acts of aggression and ridicule by particularly nasty people into institutionalised violence and persecution. She has contributed to making transphobia a default government position in many previously tolerant countries (at least more so than today). And as the self appointed queen of the transphobes, she deserves to reap what she sows.
