Canada already gave it in last time they talked (end of tech tax, retaliatory tariffs, …). I wonder what they want now, and if Carney will go above and beyond for Trump again (as in he could easily have bound the concessions with the continuity of the negotiations).

I don’t understand why anyone would sign an agreement with this guy. He goes back on his word every day, he has no credibility.

Not only do they not keep their word, they use fake negotiations as a deceptive tactic and then kill the opposing negotiators. Not that I expect them to do that to Canada, but there’s no such thing as good faith negotiations from them.

Carney hasn’t proved to me that he’s the man to meet the moment whatsoever.

      as opposed to who?

The USA aggressively does not want a fair trade deal, and even if they signed one, they would just ignore it.

Carney has been doing an amazing job.

        I completely agree.

Something is wrong with you if you can’t see that.

I completely disagree. This is a democracy. You’re allowed to not like the Prime Minister. That doesn’t mean that something’s wrong with you

Mark should signal through admin staff that he’s cancelling his travel plans and call it a day. He has better things to worry about, and when the yanks’ federal rep has a better attitude they can just rebook.

This iteration of North American trade talks are going like the equivalent of some ticket sales page where there’s a constant upsell for nothing in return.

    • Protect your land now! Would you like to buy 51st state insurance?
    • Limited time offer! Jump to the front of the line with “Gold Tier Queue” for one low bribe!
    • Don’t miss your chance to bundle an exclusive dinner with Jared Kushner!
    • Would you like a side of Trump Crypto with your order?

Mark Carney just has to click “Skip”, “Skip”, “Skip”, “Skip” ad infinitum…

As far as I can determine the Canadian government would be just fine letting the agreement as is continue, so, uh…No.

    PS. Kiss my ass.

Just keep kicking the can down the road until mid terms and they impeach Trump.

Yeah, I feel for his words many times now. He does something bad, then a press conference with all his charms, here comes another bad thing, another press… rinse and repeat.

The digital services tax was expected to bring $2B USD. He dropped it, alleging help in the negotiations without any fallback plan. At that moment, I realized he was using those excuses as an opportunity to pass his agendas, as in, dropping those taxes were his plans all along. It is easy to pass unpopular decisions when he has a scapegoat like Trump.
