I don’t know about now but I know his first term multiple coworkers who said this and who also said his kids should take over for him when he dies- especially Ivanka and Kushner or Baron when he’s old enough. And they were dead serious.
Just an unconsequential nobody rewriting the power structures that bind us.

I agree with this. I don’t think any of the legislation put forward, in multiple countries, with the stated goals of “protecting the children” are actually meant to protect the children. If they were I would indeed support them because I have watched friends struggle with their children. But I’m not entirely sure legislating this problem away is even possible.
But parents I know can sit right next to their kids while they have screen time and some of the stuff that gets sent to their children’s devices is questionable. It’s a lot of emotional and mental labor constantly on parents to course correct some of that sometimes sneaky content. And this is a dual working home who are already stretched thin on time and energy. And banning the older children from devices altogether is pretty much impossible because of school and peers.
I saw a post the other day and it made a valid point. When we were kids there seemed to be a lot more sites with games and stuff geared toward children like Neopets and I remember Gaiaonline fondly. Were there some questionable things? Sure, it was the Wild West of the Internet and I had like zero and I mean zero supervision online, but there just seemed to be more stuff explicitly for kids. Games, interactive educational sites, chats and forums. Not just “versions” of things for kids.
Perhaps I am missing something? Someone please jump in if I am misguided on the apps and sites available today. I would gladly pass that info along to some pairs of parents I know.
And right wing iPads. They’re absorbing some really terrible stuff without supervision, or even with mild supervision and guidance it still gets through.
Greed hands down. Religious extremism is like psychosis or other mental illnesses. Greed is a much more dangerous beast and the absence of greed takes away a lot of religious extremism’s teeth. We also have more tools available to successfully combat religious extremism than greed. We’ve repeatedly seen collapses of religious extremists but rarely successful curbing of greed.
“Everything is made up and the points don’t matter!”
I am of no help on this topic other than, the value of money is literally made up. We just sort of agree how much it’s worth at this point. Which doesn’t seem to be decided by you or me.
Also, “it’s complicated” is usually code for: this is really straight forward but bad so let’s make it hard to understand to hide the bad part.
But, as I understand it, we all collectively hallucinate value and when we start to sober up they have to rush and hit us with another dose. We’re just perpetually rebalancing our illusion.
So what you’re saying is… he did think they were cops.
Well, click bait “influencers” trying to ramp up engagement on platforms meant to feed off of controversial content probably isn’t the best place to formulate a legitimate opinion on feminism. Pointing at a handful of bad actors or even just hyperbolic venting on systemic issues or women who feel frustrated, upset and on the defensive isn’t “feminism” as a whole.
I would suggest you engage with more legitimate sources and literature before drawing your conclusions on what feminism is.
Clickbait man hating is not feminism anymore than incel pandering is masculinity.
PS — I don’t like that either (the mindless man hating I mean, preying on disillusioned, upset and vulnerable women.)
Yeah, this sounds like a pretty common slander arguement, and certainly a use of hyperbole. You’ve seen some memes from some self proclaimed feminist accounts so all of the established feminist literature and established discourse means nothing.
And if you repeat it enough it magically becomes true. You don’t have to experience it first hand anymore because there’s a dozen accounts repeating it and they’ve all had the same exact first hand magical experience you did.
So, disregard women who are actually active in feminist circles and disregard academic critiques and established discourse. Your account and a dozen others repeating the same is clearly a better gauge. Not like bots and bad faith arguments aren’t running rampant.
My criticisms are of Cuomo. I feel that’s rather clear. The Democratic Party did a whole song and dance and was in an absolute negative uproar over Mamdani defeating their establishment candidates. Not sure where you’ve been? You can consider the DNC acceptance of Mamdani reluctant at best. Lending the DNC credit for his success is wild imo.
I mean this comes off as why isn’t there a C for Cis or S for Straight in LGBTQ+? Shouldn’t they represent all genders/sexual expression? Isn’t it about equality and rights for all genders?! To be clear, I find that stance ridiculous.
Just because straight people are left out of the movement’s title doesn’t mean LGBTQ+ theory is advocating for superiority over straight/cis people, which is kind of your unspoken argument here for the “poor branding” of feminism.
And if you’re looking for the overarching term for all of this. It’s Gender Studies or Gender Equality. Always has been.
Feminism is a field of study not just a movement and it has vastly different interpretations. Liberal feminism and radical feminism are perhaps the most visible and mainstream but that doesn’t come close to all of feminism theory out there.
Feminism is very much meant to be, a criticism of, and in opposition to the patriarchy or male dominated social structures. Hence why “fem” is frontline and center. While cis-men are victims of the patriarchy in nuanced ways they are not its primary victims, and certainly not victims to the same degree as women and LGBTQ+ individuals. And pretending they are to onboard allies is a bit of a slap in the face and a watering down of feminism itself.
Kvapil himself comes to a dark conclusion. “I’ve learned that it’s me who has to change,” he says on camera. “Trying to understand everyone and reach an agreement at any cost could be our greatest source of weakness, the reason these wars are lost. First, the information war, then the real war.”
Someone once told me, “you’re not going to change them, they’re going to change you” and damn that is some wisdom. A pill not easily swallowed if you’ve been raised to reach for the light in everyone. But there are certain points that should not, and cannot, be compromised on.
Do not expect compassion or mutual respect from people who don’t value either. They’re hard wired to see you as the fool, not as someone who worked together for common ground.
Please explain your strategy to address your party repeatedly blocking popular candidates, such as their massive campaign against Bernie in 2016 (who was beloved by moderates and middle classers who ultimately voted Trump) and their tireless work to block candidates like the mayoral candidate for Minneapolis or the mass attack on Mamdani in NYC (just to mention some fresh wounds)?
Not to mention using donations to vehemently block left-leaning parties with all kinds of legal action and disruptive moles while squashing any entry into their own ranks? They spend their time attacking greens and social democrats, meanwhile they break bread with racists and bigots.
If you’ve ever done any activist or grassroot work for labor, direct democracy or mutual aid/community initiatives you know democrats smile to your face and twist a dagger into your back. Trust me. I used to think it was the party of the little guy until I started brushing elbow with the big boys (and gals) at conferences and luncheons. They’re squirmy af and they will lie right to your face.
If you’re not openly advocating for change within your national party you can kindly sit tf down and let those of us who have worked directly with elected officials and their offices to talk. I’m sick of this assumption that leftists only exist online and I hate this categorization. You might as well call anyone who values their community a libtard and an “academic” when you use leftist as a slur. Some of us come right out of trade union labor frontlines and leftist is way too broad a brushstroke to slap on the dynamics of people working to better their communities.
Also, if you’ve never worked in those spaces you have no idea how complicated it is to organize people and how often they’re infiltrated by hostile parties. Dems will also siphon off people on false pretenses and try to absorb them. It’s not just a flat out failure by the left- the hurdles are massive and well funded.
I am SO OVER IT
Are we all going to sing kumbaya my lord around the legacy of Bush, and how he is just a sweet old grandpa, and run a campaign with Cheneys again? No? Just full on Trumpism this round, eh?
You hear that Canada?! We’re coming for you!
Yeah, almost every town when I was growing up had a youth center. They were awesome. I also remember a lot of library programs for kids. I don’t see those so much anymore. And yeah, like every weekend there was some kind of community event geared toward kids. Also roller rinks and laser tag. They were a bit dated by my time but were still affordable and going strong.
This makes zero sense. But I mean MAGA clowns make zero sense (no offense to clowns).
Real republican of him. Just throwing cash away and killing jobs. Hope that crew and the contractors were a bunch of red hats.
It’s never about the cost. It’s always about the hate.
Ok did anyone get it to turn into three pictures but kinda 3D? That was wild!
I mean she just seems to be dripping head to toe in honesty. I totally believe it. /s
