My friend told me there was a shit ton of work done to find and fix every instance if the bug, and they managed to do it, which is why things kept going smoothly.

I’ve also heard that in some places virtually nothing was done and no problems occurred anyway.

Neither of the examples you are providing are ideal approaches, but personally I might prefer the first one. It kind of sounds like they are asking a question but badly. But it is possible to approach this kind of conversation way more tactfully. And to the advantage of the manager because people will be more comfortable and less defensive.

There are a million ways your scenario could happen. Another possibility is that the manager misunderstood something. My last boss was notorious for approaching people, very serious and grimly, with accusations of wrong doing. then when the worker would go ask the “accusor” it would turn out to have been some totally innocuous comment or like someone making a joke or mild social-type complaint or giving feedback on the workplace as a whole. And this included situations where multiple people were present and everyone agreed, so its not just someone lying to preserve the relationship. I was on both sides if the exchange myself. When i heard that i had made an “accusation” I had made I really had to think hard to figure out the grain of reality it was based upon. That’s just one example of what could have transpired.

As you may infer from that story, “accusations” were pretty commonplace. And it was overall a good job, just that manager didn’t know how to do their role. 2 in 4 years is a pretty good run.

They’re like “we only use them when there is absolutely no other safe option”. Two examples presented: a disabled student probably having some kind of meltdown and another “trying to escape after fighting with a security guard” which sounds like the cop probably picked a fight with him and the student was trying to deescalate (by getting the fuck outta there). In order for this to have worked to stop him running away, the cop would have had to tackle the kid first? Or is it enough to just barely touch them like playing tag.

On the down side, if the speculation about cops accidentally shocking themselves all the time were correct, we’d probably be finding out from these dorks. So they probably have a good trigger that doesn’t get activated unintentionally.

Omaha’s mayor, John Ewing Jr, who helped oversee creating the school resource officer program when he was on the police force, said the department has honored the school district’s decision to “opt out”. The Omaha police department said officers will continue to carry stun guns, batons, pepper spray and firearms.

In a second case, the glove was used on a student at the Omaha district’s integrated learning center for special education students. Police said that student made verbal threats and threw a chair at a school security guard, striking the guard in the head. The student also punched the guard in the head, according to the statement.

Bellevue police didn’t immediately have details about when its officers have used the gloves. Clary said the devices have been an extremely effective tool that sometimes make students cooperate on sight even without shocking a student.
