Looks great! I was hoping for chicken-fried rice, where you “bread” the rice grains with flour and spices, and then deep fry the whole thing. Your version is much healthier.

1·8 months agoYou can use and support Tor! It’s easy with a bootable version of Tails, I use it to access Proton Mail since they make their regular services also available on an onion site (the link is on their regular website).

I also think disconnecting the concepts of “pocket computer” and “always-on two way radio with location tracking and internet connectivity” are things you could put in different physical devices.
Did it fail? I hate headlines like this. Just because it isn’t popular now, doesn’t mean it didn’t make progress in its space.

5·1 year agoMortal Kombat (2021) opened with a great “feudal China with elemental magic” clan story that could have been an amazing movie, but then they jumped forward in time and everything after that was a let down.

4·1 year agoTorvalds wrote git for the Linux kernel, and then GitHub popped up because most other projects couldn’t handle the decentralization. Interestingly to OP’s frustration, they were using a proprietary VCS before that, and people were just as frustrated about that: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Git#History

3·2 years agoI’m considering moving to Debian Stable plus Flathub for graphical desktop packages like Firefox, it works well on the Steam Deck. SteamOS also provides Distrobox which helps in some cases.

I’m the olden days before the Internet, we’d tape a note to our smartphone then ship it to Google, who would read the note and put the videos you wanted on it, and post it back.
