Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Community feedback request regarding Rule 6: "No Politics"English
9·24 days agoeyyyyy, shameless self-promo, but i made a community a couple days ago called !politicaloptimism@piefed.social
i’m a little nervous about bringing this up since i’m the one of the only people active there right now, but we have a “Seeking Optimism” flair for people who are concerned about things and want assurance for the most sensational narratives over what’s happening.

23·25 days agocook bacon in water.
don’t drown it, but add just enough to render out the fat without the bacon being in direct contact with the pan, preventing sticking and burning. then once the water steams out the bacon is left to fry in its own juice, giving perfectly crispy bacon every time.

for a longer answer… i was turned off from vanilla ubuntu because the linux community in general doesn’t seem to like it and i just assumed ubuntu’s time in the sun was done.
i liked linux mint, and still use it on my old thinkpads, but it feels dated, and i had a screen which needed wayland. i stayed on fedora for a little over a year, almost two. i bounced around a little until one day i decided to just try ubuntu and haven’t felt the need to leave since. i mean, linux mint and pop are only good because ubuntu lts is good, right?

i believe the only path for tariffs now involves congress (as it should), and i doubt congress wants to do this song and dance again, these companies that were affected are big donors afterall.
