Modern ethics, or school ethics, are a tool of indoctrination.

What you’re being taught isn’t necessarily false, but some of it (might be a lot depending where you live) is just one side of the picture. It’s manipulative, as designed.

It’d be true to say that slave owners or dictators are people just like the rest of us. They may not be living perfect lives, and perhaps sometimes they struggle with one issue or another.

But it completely ignores the other side of the equation. On one side a single person is frustrated because they still can’t find the perfect mega yacht to purchase with spare change they had lying around. On the other countless people are starving to death, with no way to change their fate.

Keep in mind this is just one topic that may or may not be brought up during an ethics class, depending where you live and what school you go to. It’s by no means representative of every education system everywhere.

Is it ethical to steal bread from another starving family to feed your own starving family?

Is it ethical to steal bread from one starving elderly man to feed your starving family?

Is it ethical to steal bread from a starving child to feed your starving family?

That isn’t the question dweeb. It is always ethical to steal from corporations. Nobody’s fucking robbing your meemaw on her way home from the supermarket.

They’re examples of ethics questions you might encounter in an ethics class.

also, our terrifying dumbness and anger was manifested as the ability to comprehend a 2 paragraph tweet.

These question are not equal. The second question implies “more than enough”. This question is easily answered. The first question introduces a lot more addition questions, and therefore a better discussion.

Although, yes the second question is still asked a lot…

Simple: im never going to be in the second situation, but almost certainly will be in the first.

Eat all rich people. Legitimately consume them with a fork and knife then spend their money.

This ethics question is from another time, where most likely both the local miller and baker were dependent on said sale to continue to feed their family, and have the resources to feed others.

I think the main dilemma behind it is more like: is it ethical to force others to work for my profit/human rights? However for this dilemma to be representative, the entire society needs to be arranged so everyone who is willing to contribute can contribute and is motivated to do so.

Also, capitalism is the best system, as long as it’s kept in check and the people inside aren’t to greedy. Neither traits currently seem to be true. Communism is the best system as long as people aren’t selfish, and aren’t motivated by physical rewards. Which also isn’t true.

Communism doesn’t require people to not be selfish or motivated by goodies, it just requires workers to own the shit they need to work, so they can’t be exploited and coerced into socialized work for privatized profits. But regardless, capitalism is a system that rewards greed at every step of the way, which also isn’t natural or neutral. There’s a reason the people at the very top tend to be comically evil, they’re those that the system selects for.
