    The Trump administration was planning to send at least 100 federal immigration agents, including from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, to a U.S. Coast Guard base in Alameda as early as Thursday, the Chronicle learned, a development that set immigrant communities on edge. But organizers said they were ready, activating community defense systems that they had been building for months, including volunteer efforts to protect day laborers at work sites and distribute Know Your Rights information to immigrants.
