You know who also abducted people randomly?

    THE FUCKING NAZIS IN GERMANY!

But something like that would never happen in the Land of The Free and The Home of The Brave, right?

communities will develop their own street networks of journalism as they are needed. as it has always been, always shall it be. i lived in DC for 4 incredibly happy years and one incredibly mirerable one. the people of DC are diverse, and strong, with a sense of community that has held them together through many things. these ice kidnappings are an attack on that very social fabric. the white house is freaking because they know their attempt to break DC’s spirit has failed. what opressors don’t understand, what they’ll never understand, is that we the people see ourselves as we the people. we don’t just virtue signal that the way the plantation owners who founded this country did.

we hold these truths to be self evident: all humans are created equally with certain unalienable dignities. when in the course of human events these dignities are ignored, it no longer benefits the people to submit to the power of the status quo. if there is to be no benefit complying with the status quo, then we shan’t.

These smears have led to a 1,000% increase in assaults against our officers — including terrorist threats, vehicle attacks, and bounties on their heads.

    Bullshit.

I saw somewhere (I think it was Some More News, but I’m not sure) that they reached “1000% increase in assaults against ICE” the following way:

Last year, there were 3 minor assaults on ICE thugs reported and this year, thanks in part to the new policy of classifying any reaction to their presence other than worshipful compliance as “assault”, it’s 32.

Even using THOSE methods, it’s still only “assaults” REPORTED. As far as we know, there might be as few as zero of the “assaults” that are ever proven in a court of law, let alone one where the judge isn’t a fascist-appointed hack that’ll automatically side with the American SS.

It’s so disingenuous. Their employment is way up and their interactions with people, both those they are targeting and the general public are way up.

If I were literally any company, if I increased my workforce by over 1000% I’d expect anything happening to them to increase by at least 1000%.

          Their employment is way up

The story is 10,000 new ICE agents. Sounds like a lot, but even if they actually are making $100K a year (which means an employer cost of roughly $200K each), that’s $2 billion – or a staggering 1% of the $200 billion allocated to ICE in the recent spending bill (with the name so stupid I refuse to ever type it). Even as bad as ICE is, it’s still mostly a boondoggle for stuffing the wallets of trump supporters.

And I’ll bet most of these ICE agents aren’t even making $100K a year. It’s just too obviously a shoestring operation for that to be the case. I suspect a lot of these “ICE agents” are actually undocumented immigrants themselves, given a stark choice between abducting other random Spanish-speaking people or deportation. And paid very little, just like undocumented immigrants everywhere.

From what I heard on social media, ICE is being paid a $1,500 per head they collect. I don’t have any confirmation about that, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it were true. What is true, is that many bounty hunters are now with ICE. It is a job that requires a lack of moral fiber, with craptacular results.

I feel like they’re stupid for exaggerating it that much because its hard not to balk at fucking 1000%. Like more people would probably believe it if they had said, even like, 319% or something.

And it just ruins their credibility further.

That also means they have data for a base rate. How many brave and patriotic ICE agents are killed on the job every day?

I’ve seen them on TV and I’m pretty sure the leading cause of death must be cardiac arrest.

Can you imagine being an assassin and being asked to off ICE? That has to be the cheapest job going. Despite the fact they wear body armour, that’s a pretty easy target to hit because bulletproof vests don’t come in XXXL.

What are they doing, offering two for one offers. Or is it more of a pride thing and they’re trying to work out how many they can take out with a single bullet.

They went from like one hundred charges of assault against officers to like two hundred because of Trump deploying ICE to invade communities.

The problem with this is glaring. First of all they constantly lie, so tons of people are erroneously charged with assault and they are literally using military equipment to attack civilians. They are not the good guys by any stretch of imagination.

DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “These smears have led to a 1,000% increase in assaults against our officers — including terrorist threats, vehicle attacks, and bounties on their heads.”

I’d love to see the data to back that up.

Also, we can do better. Why not a 10,000% increase? Or a 100,000% increase?

Like the man in the stall said to the guy waiting, “Gimme time baby, gimme time”

Id love to see the names and badge numbers of those officers that were assaulted. Also the names and badges of those who witnessed it and any bodycam footage.

Hold onto those names and footage for charging them after the fascists fall and these people need to be held to account.

An incredibly convenient property of small numbers is that if you add a small number to a very small number, the % increase is orders of magnitude larger than both numbers combined and that looks very impressive when you are pretending to do statistics.

A more rational response would be about a dozen heavily armed individuals in every neighborhood on watch for kidnappers.

Oh fuck yeah. Am going to share this article… We’ve got ICE scurrying around the area here where I live and when they sweep someone up and disapear them w/o letting friends and/or family know… Yeah. Time to make a stink. I hope this keeps going and spreads across the country.

ICE is not ‘kidnapping’ illegal aliens,”

“Aliens”: dehumanizing is the first step.

“Not kidnapping”: so the cases are traceable, the not-kidnapped healthy in body and spirit and the agent’s are not anonym?
