I wonder if Russians and those in former USSR and Yugoslavian states are getting a sort of sick enjoyment from seeing America just putting a gun to its own head everyday. “Ah, now it’s your turn to have your life expectancy cut by decades and all hope for the future crushed.”
It really sucks when you know something is gonna happen, but you hope it doesn’t, and then it’s happening. Germans probably got a word that means all of that and it’s at least 20 characters long.
While schadenfreude is largely enjoyed, I believe it’s probably nurture as much as nature and happens the world over, including in the USA (leopards ate my face glee posting). And while a brief indulgence may be natural and understandable, swimming in those waters and refusing to find empathy, understanding with or without empathy is just as unhealthy for the indulgent who risk drowning in a sea of hate and seethe, as it is for those on the receiving end of karma.
I’m not scolding you so much as musing online.
If these jobs truly can’t be done by American workers then a $100k fee for the application is just the cost of doing business.
If it turns out that it suddenly makes a lot of jobs done by H1Bs no longer economical, it makes you wonder why they were using H1B labor to do it? ( We all know the answer)
There are rumors circulating that this is actually a $100,000 annual fee instead of a one time fee. There are also rumors that the fee could be waived at the discretion of the executive branch.
Bezos and Musk and Zuckerberg are gonna hire assassins if this becomes real.
