Yeah, I don’t think you’re gonna get any answers OP until you give specific examples of these opinions that you were banned for.
Modder, programmer, and all around tinkerer. Yes, I’m that New Vegas and Deus Ex guy.
You can also find me over at lemmy.sdf.org under the same username. Also kbin.social if it ever comes back from the dead.

The one on Jamaica Avenue?

They actually did XKCD 221. What the hell?

That’s so absurdly simple it almost sounds like a joke, except I’m salivating thinking about it. Neat.

Pretty much nailed it, but for anyone out there thinking “hey I can do that”…
Point #1 is hard to do these days as a solo effort. A lot of these piracy groups have massive manpower backing them up, whether it’s a paid business or just a bunch of like-minded enthusiasts.
Point #2 is a little more doable, but you’ll spend all your time doing that to keep up with the release schedule of these groups. That or you’ll have to rubber-stamp your releases without much quality checking, which will affect #3.
However, Point #3 is where small enthusiasts can absolutely shine. A great example (though possibly on the more involved side) would be Adywan, who made their name focusing entirely on releasing maximum quality Star Wars releases, recuts, remakes, and remasters. There’s maybe a few dozen releases to their name, but mention that name to any piracy-aware Star Wars nerd and they will know it.
For as much content as the big names cover there’s lots of stuff that falls through the cracks, whether it’s entirely absent or just present with sub-par quality. Despite how large the Star Trek fanbase is there’s basically one copy of the non-remastered version of The Original Series floating around out there, and it’s a rather ancient encode.

If memory serves one of the affected medications is used to treat some kinds of heart attacks, so possibly literally yes.

Is it? You can have female hormone levels and still have male genitalia. Science is cool like that. And no, people aren’t defined solely by their genitals, but they aren’t solely defined by their appearance either, or their biology. It’s a big mash up of those things and a few more.
Point being it’s really hard to describe that situation as being solely one or the other. It’s definitely something that needs to be indicated for medical reasons though, but most Identification Documents don’t draw any distinction between sex and gender, much less allow for notation of something like that. Once again, paperwork lags behind reality.

It’s not really complicated: they just include their name in the filename(s), whether it’s in the readme or the installer or the media files. Upload enough releases named something like “Some.Show.S01E01.Pilot.1080p.x265-AverageJoe.mkv” and people will start recognizing AverageJoe and their work.
As long as it’s a parallel install and they haven’t removed my ability to load WiiOS and use the Homebrew channel normally, whoever did that is getting an invite over to the next party for sure.

AI upscale slop is this generation’s Comic Sans.

It’s medically relevant information. If you’re incapacitated, this could be vital information to whoever treats you.
This one is overlooked and can be literally a matter of life and death. Certain medications react differently based on hormone levels for example, so even if someone was born male if they have a nominally female balance of hormones they need to be treated (medically) as female.

The people a Youdontsurf are going to be devastated.

VPN. End of thread.
Even if you were living on your own you should only be torrenting through a VPN.

Despite the apparent speed of advances, AI is a technology that is still in its childhood. It’s as if tech companies found a way to create a 6-year-old out of GPUs and way too goddamn much electricity. If you can overlook the resource usage required, that’s kind of cool.
The problem is that those same tech companies (and some governments) have decided that they all need their own synthetically created 6-year-old and that they should give it unlimited funding and the ability to make life-changing decisions for everyone else, and anyone who isn’t jumping at the chance to have their life overseen by a machine-generated child with poor impulse control and a propensity to hallucinate is just “getting in the way of progress”.

That movie is so damn good. Every other film adapting a comic book has to make it either an origin story or some major event in canon. Dredd is literally “this is a slightly unusual but not that abnormal day for this guy” and it’s absolutely riveting. And that’s how the Dredd universe is: everything is intense and over-the-top.

Same. As far as I’m concerned that film is a depiction of what happens if you enter The Warp without a Gellar Field.
When I first saw the movie I was very unhappy because it was not at all what was advertised. I was expecting a sci-fi thriller, not Hellraiser in Space. It was quite badly marketed. If it had been marketed correctly it might’ve done far better.

You know things are really out there when “I drink pee recreationally” is a valid credential of expertise for a topic that isn’t “things done at a German sex club”.
Also… I’m not exactly vanilla myself, and yeah: one of the things even the most depraved toiletplay enthusiasts know is “human waste is not good for you”.

Japanese, German, American, British…
It’s basically all of those things, but also that a newer technology doesn’t necessarily mean the older technology has no use. People still use bicycles even though cars and motorcycles exist. People still read books even though audiobooks and TV shows exist. The number of people doing those things may have gone down, but they have a specific use case and need that the “better” technology doesn’t satisfy.
On the other side, there are technologies that get entirely replaced by the successor. because it’s just flatly better even in the same scenarios. 8-Tracks being made completely irrelevant by Cassettes, for example.
