You ever been on an instance that doesn’t have their own rules?
Edit: And it’s hardly flipping our shit to ban people who dehumanize us or spread anti trans propaganda.

I recommend https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/ Cozy queer instance with quick moderation, and open to allies as well
Ah, yeah, we do block instances. Only transphobic ones or ones that don’t moderate however.
You don’t get the point of the instance. That sports thing is deliberately pushed by the alt right because it gets people riled up, it was literally a non issue until they started bringing it up (and lying about it, making it seem like a bigger issue than it really is). There are not a lot of trans women and we largely don’t compete at a professional level. We have to keep hearing this tired old debate over and over, and so on blåhaj, which is supposed to be a safe space, we simply ban all alt right rhetoric targeting us rather than engage in it.
Do you know how often someone shows up and randomly brings up some unrelated alt right talking point? In an unrelated post? Yeah this is not us being sensitive, this is other people not understanding what it means to be a minority being specifically targeted to create engagement. We can’t all expend all of our energy all of the time to rebuke every single argument. That effort would legitimately be inhuman
Yeah. Before I started using lemmy and matrix more I was on discord a lot, and some of the mods there are rather shitty I have to say. Many even think they are allies despite allowing and defending all sorts of transphobic rhetoric like AGP etc.
Blåhaj has been such a relief in that sense. The only instance I know for sure has my back 100%. No “allies” telling me what is and is not transphobic
The workers have no meaningful power or ownership over their workplaces, so it doesn’t matter how much is publicly owned. I personally will never accept the marxist redefinition of socialism, nor will I ever accept an authoritarian vanguard state.
I do not want to continue this debate, tankie. It’s never productive for anyone.
They are not socialist in the slightest. That requires the workers to own the means of production, which they do not.
Edit: To expand on this companies are organized the same way as in capitalism because they are capitalist. Workers at the bottom, management in the middle, and rich capitalists at the top.
Yeah okay, you are not being genuine. That much is clear now. This is a post about J. K. Rowling using profits from her IP to fund transphobia. People run in to defend the franchise, we try to explain how giving her money means more policies against us is bad, and then you object to that?
Ofc we are talking about HP in the HP post. Why would I talk about religion here? She gave a significant meaningful amount of money to fund hate against me, and she continues to be influential and use her and her IPs popularity to make peoples lives harder.
Why do you think I don’t speak up against any church or organization funding hate and bigotry? You are not being genuine.
No one is. This is an article about how she uses profits from the HP franchise to fund transphobia with people running in to the defend liking the franchise while completely ignoring the context of the post.
Edit: For reference, liking or not liking the franchise isn’t what the post is about, so running in to defend it is gonna be read as supporting funding the franchise.
No. I’m so tired of this. You can like the IP but you can’t spend a single dime on it without funding transphobia. That’s what we are talking about here.
Edit: The IP also should just die. Its popularity fuels hateful policies and attitudes against my existence.
Edit: This comment on it says it succinctly: https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/26719393/14648789
Trauma via a cis man if I remember correctly. She fears men in general and fervently believes, despite the statistics, that trans women will put cis women at risk.
Edit: Probably also attention and money if other right wing grifters are anything to go by.
The very first comment is all about actively supporting J K Rowling with money, so this is not just about people talking about HP, but funding someone who is actively using their money and influence to harm us.
As others have mentioned publicity and support in general for HP is also bad, as it makes people more likely to buy HP merchandise. New shows, merch, and games are still being produced and sold. We aren’t shitting on HP for fun. We are telling people that this actually really and truly hurts us.
If by disagree you mean intentionally misgender people then yes
They would have known this if they bothered to open the surgery regret rate studies I linked them (but we both know studies won’t change their mind). For the lazy it’s less than 1% for both transmascs and transfems.
Kids are never offered “life changing surgeries”. This doesn’t happen. Evidence very much suggests being trans is a genuine neurological condition that we are born with.
Brains are not necessarily binary.
We understand some of the causes.
“Risk” of being born trans seems to be partly genetic.
The American Academy of Pediatrics is on our side.
Adults don’t regret surgery. And another study on the same.
Additionally, getting a diagnosis is a long process (and it’s not guaranteed that you’ll get one), and then actually getting treatment takes even more time (also not guaranteed).
EDIT: I can’t read what the transphobe is saying anymore as they have rightly been banned from the server I’m on. Detransitioning is uncommon, but of course perfectly valid. Typically people detransition because of transphobia or for economic reasons. Have some additional links:
Rates of detransition are low, and they are only very rarely permanent and caused by true regret.
GenderGP links multiple studies saying essentially the same thing.
This one mentions detransition rates of 13%, but again mostly to escape stigma.
Take breaks (ideally in the form of walks), explain the problems you’re trying to solve to people willing to listen or to inanimate objects (rubber ducking), and engage in as many different perspectives and ways to approach problems as manageable (as opposed to as many as possible).
Your subconscious will sometimes work on issues in the background as you take walks/take a shower/etc, and knowing different ways to organize and approach things will give your mind more ways to consider when working.
Working continuously on problems without taking breaks can trap your mind in little loops, where all you’re doing is trying to solve things in different variations of the same thing over and over, Escape the loop, and remember that you and your subconscious are parts of the same whole.
