Thunder does have a local notification but its experimental and works by periodically polling the Lemmy instance. I guess this will not instantly notify you for any updates and may not work if the app is forcibly stopped by android specially with one ui and its aggressive battery controls. Same with voyager, the thunder devs stopped on implementing on their own way of push notification and are waiting for the Lemmy devs. They do have a highly experimental push notification but it’s a little involved to set up. Personally I dont use notifications and only occasionally checks lemmy on voyage or by using a browser.
Tell that to the millions of people that suffered for scorching temperatures last year. Even just last week classes were suspended for some parts in our country due to a high heat index (humidity played a large factor but temperatures really are reaching dangerous levels for the past years) and it’s not even summer here right now.
