I’ve been on the fediverse about a decade. I make a habit of picking up an id on most new servers I find. sometimes it helps with federation issues. I think I can take credit in particular for the tighter federation of scribe.disroot.org with the rest of lemmy, for instance.

there are other benefits I don’t really care to explicate.

of my hundred fediverse IDs, I somehow didn’t get a single mention in the user list. a few folks I recognize did, and fewer of those probably deserved it.
