I don’t play Fortnite, but the only players I know are kids, and they just play it because that’s what everyone else is playing and they want to play with their friends. I think it really does come down to individuals. Neither approach is going to work for everyone.

Not to oversimplify, but I think a big component is that extraverts feel more connected in person, whereas introverts will thrive when they can more easily regulate draining social encounters.
