Oh I’m not advocating for nothing, just saying that alone this isn’t enough.
We should absolutely outlaw congressional stock trading, and more.
Please don’t mistake my desire for something more comprehensive for apathy.

Trust me I’m well aware of the failings of my country. That doesn’t mean I can’t recognize one of them or that you have to remind me of their existence when I do.
In other words, I get it but you’re not helping.
Yeah I see what you’re getting at, but not a fan of rewarding bad behavior which is really all throwing money at establishment politicians will ever do.
If we outlaw it they’ll just go around it using someone else as a proxy. Must try harder. :(
Only issue is we’re supposed to be their boss. Americans elect representatives to do the job of representing us. If they don’t do their job they shouldn’t be paid, and overall public support for representatives is incredibly low because of the behavior you’re advocating to pay them off in order to avoid doing.
Not sure where you work but if I stopped doing my job I’d expect a firing, not a raise.
To solve both problems the public needs to scrutinize the shit out of their elected officials and be more willing to throw them to the side when they stop being useful, like corporations do to us all the time.
While I’m never a fan of violence I do appreciate the sense of unity this has had for the working class.
The subsequent reactions by CEOs, Politicians, Insurance companies, social networks and News Outlets should serve as proof that we’re not only stronger than them but also that they’re scared shitless of the thought of us being organized around a common cause. I want more of that.

That’s not rice, that’s maggots you’re eating!
Larvae, larvae, larvae……
Ok but Freddy got Fingered is legitimately a work of art.
My opinion? We aren’t collectively pissed off about it enough.
88 Million Americans who were eligible to vote this year didn’t. That’s about 1/3 of all eligible voters, and almost 1/4 of the entire US population.
People are broke, tired, busy, and don’t perceive what happens in government or corporations as a direct threat. They don’t have the time, energy or capacity to care enough to pay attention.
This is by design, so I’m not sure what the solution is beyond get MAD and get everyone else around you to be MAD. We outnumber them, and they don’t want us to realize it.
The Lorax really needs a comeback in society right about now.
Specifically this version.
Al does so much work to understand the subjects of his videos that this song not only still slaps but some of the tech terms are still surprisingly relevant. Dude really respects the art form and all aspects of his parodies.
“You’re just about as useless as JPEGs to Helen Keller” is one of the sickest burns I’ve ever heard.
Even Pied Piper didn’t scale.
Sherman Tanz finally bought a president.
Yep. Absolute immunity.
All Biden needs to do is declare the 2024 election invalid on the grounds that trump as a convicted felon is not eligible to be President (because he fucking isn’t) and call it an official act.
It’ll be just as legal as anything else Trump is planning to do starting January.
Crandall office furniture!
Ordered a reconditioned Aeron there this Summer for about half what it would cost new and I love it. And since it’s reconditioned that means Herman Miller and their shitty-ass CEO didn’t make anything from me.
Only thing is it had a bit of a funky smell when unwrapping, but it aired out quickly.
If they have a point it’s because they manufactured it.
Personally I’m too stubborn to just roll over and give up. That’s what they want. Don’t give them that satisfaction.
Get involved at the local and state levels. Those are our easiest avenues to affect change going forward.
And over the next 4 years hope a halfway decent candidate that puts the people and worker protections at the top of their list of issues to run on and support the hell out of them. Or if you’re eligible, run yourself. I’d happily support an average citizen running for their peers.
Of course the one auto manufacturer refusing to give EVs a real shot because their CEO had a personal beef with Elon (fuck Elon too that’s not a defense of him in any way) would say that.
The same auto manufacturer that leads in donations to the Republican Party, too.
I really wish they’d get their shit together because their cars have such a good rep and they make really good hybrids, but fuck Toyota for this.
I never said they didn’t? But I get how you got there.
Agreed, we need to pick our representatives better :(
