Went to a local cherry blossom festival yesterday.

They weren’t fully bloomed yet (maybe around 80%), but still looked amazing.

I basically never open my windows. This winter, I don’t think I opened them at all except maybe during a big cleaning day.

In Japan, ventilation is required by law, and most modern houses are equipped with a 24-hour ventilation system. Because of that, we don’t really need to open the windows to get fresh air — the system continuously circulates air for us.

At the same time, it doesn’t make the house noticeably colder in winter or hotter in summer. The air also goes through filters, which is especially nice during pollen season.

So I don’t really feel suffocated even with the windows closed, since the air is still being exchanged constantly.

I believe I can touch type properly on a QWERTY layout.

In Japanese, we have to convert kana into kanji as we type, so I sometimes make mistakes during the conversion stage.

I occasionally play a typing game called Sushi-Da for practice.

Exactly. Some parts may look readable as Japanese, but this is Chinese.

The way the characters are written is slightly different from Japanese.

There is a similar pose where people make a heart shape above their head. Japanese people like making heart shapes for pretty much everything.

I’m Japanese, and honestly, I don’t see any special meaning in this pose at all.

As far as I know, this image is just a scene from Space Brothers, where Namba Mutta is simply talking about the Sharon Telescope. There’s no symbolic or cultural meaning attached to the pose in Japan—it’s just a moment in the story.

I picked up about 20 books — a mix of novels and manga.

It was my grandmother’s homemade plum wine.

She has passed away now, so it remains a very strong memory for me.

I recently had a house built, and most of the outlets do support grounding.

However, it’s not very common to actually use them — many appliances don’t have grounded plugs, or the shapes don’t match.

I’d say only things like washing machines, microwaves, and rice cookers tend to use them.

I usually do use proper punctuation like the Japanese full stop “。”,

but recently there’s been a trend—especially among younger people—where it’s sometimes avoided.

Some even call it “maru-hara” (short for “full stop harassment”), suggesting that ending a sentence with “。” can come off as cold or aggressive.

I guess that’s why I ended up not using it myself, especially in casual contexts like social media.

日本人にほんじんです

漢字かんじ、助詞じょし、敬語けいごあたりが辛つらいとよく聞ききますが日本語にほんごはそこまで厳密げんみつに喋しゃべらなくてもある程度ていど通つうじちゃったりもします

漢字かんじを理解りかいするのに部首ぶしゅからいくのはいいですね、部首ぶしゅと旁つくりについてある一定いっていの意味いみを覚おぼえたら読よめなくても意味いみを理解りかいするのが簡単かんたんになります

小学生しょうがくせいレベルで1026個こある漢字かんじをとりあえず覚おぼえれば日常にちじょうで困こまらないレベルになると思おもいます

On the other hand, I’m studying English myself. I’m still only at around a Japanese middle school level, but I hope to reach the point where I can interact with people in places like this.

That said, I’m still relying on AI to write this.

I’ve played a lot of Korean games since way back, and there are plenty of songs I like — even though I have no idea what they’re saying.

I still play games like DJMAX and EZ2ON, and I just enjoy the vibe without understanding the lyrics.
