My point is that voting is the very very beginning of your political responsibility as a leftist. There is a lot more to do. And no I don’t mean financially support, I mean organization and community outreach. This should really be seen as something you do first and regardless of who is president. Donate money to your local food shelf if you can, & I mean every month.

Tell me, when I see the governor of my state running for VP (A man who’s campaign I supported btw) and he says on TV that he’ll “preemptively strike Iran” and his running mate, the current vice president of the country, saying we need to have the “strongest military force in the world” I’m supposed to support that? While democrats fund a genocide? Forget being worse in Gaza than Biden, Biden and his admin still destroyed the city and laughed about it to voters. They killed tens of thousands.

Our leadership, both DNC and especially republican, has failed us as a people. Capitalism has failed us. For anyone it may help reading, quitting feels awesome after a while. It’s so worth it in the long run. I almost smoked over the weekend, found out we lost my grandmother on Saturday morning , still haven’t picked one back up. Starting a new job this weekend too, after the strike on the first, Almost gave myself the excuse that I’m stressing so might as well.

I can put it this way, my grandmother lived a beautiful long life, created wonderful paintings and ceramic vases, career artist, never smoked once in her life and lived to be 95. My grandfather smoked like a chimney, passed about 15 years ago, I think he was about 80. Makes a youngin’ think

Smoking cigarettes isn’t dangerous to everybody in your vicinity only to second hand smoke and it’s kinda disingenuous to pretend the danger to society from the two is comparable. And like I said I smoked for over 10 years and I’m gen z. Society makes it look cool but I should have listened to my mom the whole time.

Idk if it’s really helpful to the convo but As someone who quit smoking less than a year ago after 10+ years I wanna say raising the price won’t help people not smoke. The amount of money I threw at my smokes was just someothing I always budgeted in and it just kinda fucks over poor people who are gonna smoke no matter what. I don’t think this full ban is really gonna do much for already existing smokers. Of course if the cost of selling cigarettes was more than the profit we could get somewhere but at the end of the day every industry would benefit from ditching profit based economics. Thats why I’m a leftist I guess
