The gerrymandering in federal elections is something that amazes me since decades ago. I understand it when it was created. But today? When you can count all ballots in a few hours? I get the divisions when you have to vote for the Senate or your district, but in a federal election you are only voting for one person. Count all the ballots, find the one with the most ballots and name that person president. It’s not that hard.

In the end is a “good cop, bad cop” situation.

I can think of a funnier map: Canada taking NY, Washington DC, … and Mexico (re)taking the west coast. Imagine if Texas ended up being again part of Mexico.

Liberal -> Economics liberal. Not social liberal. Freedom of movement for the money but not for the people.

Liberal in the non-US world is center-right at best. Full right at worst. The Dems outside the US are seen as center-right in some points and right in others.

Don’t get it wrong. The “unity” in Germany was the result of “first they came for…”. Hitler didn’t win any fair election. Only after jailing all the opposing parties he won.

O maybe China won’t even need to invade. If Taiwan ends up building factories in the US they can say goodbye to a lot of money and a lot of “defense” from the US. If China waits a little they can take Taiwan without a shot.

Maybe he cured a strong headache (maybe some herbal remedy) but they grew the anecdote and he ended up “curing leprosy”.

I think a better idea is to expand the universes of those movies.

If I were Xi I’d wait a little longer, let’s say some months, to see if the US starts a civil war. Then, without the US to back Taiwan, start talking with Taiwan to unify both parts of China with an agreement. No war, no deaths, no spending military equipment.
