No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why do people pronounce ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) like it's a word?
3·2 days agoThe word you are looking for is not “initialisation,” but “initialism.”

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Do werewolves shed? Or do they lose their whole coat when transferring back? Do Vampires have little holes in their K9s to suck up the blood after puncturing someone or thing?
1·2 days agoNeither exist. I feel like a possibly rhetorical question about mythology on which there is little consensus or centralized canon is something I might call a “stupid question.”

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•In WW2 we were told Hitler was a danger but not to us directly. Iraq was for WMD''s. Now Iran is for oil basically? What if the US got out of other peeps stuff and went isolationist for about 10 years
2·2 days agoYeah, it’s deeply disturbing. The OP has posted some other weird things that make them seem like… not the best person.
Ooh, okay! I have some recommendations for distributions built for gaming:
- CachyOS is probably the best OS for this. It is Arch-based.
- Bazzite is a Debian-based gaming distro.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do I make a dog mean? Not that I want that but would kind of like for him to also be our protector much as his. I don't want to hit him or deprive him though he is just sometimes tooo nice.
1·2 days agoYou should be protecting your dog, not abusing it so that it might more convincingly “protect” you from some undefined “danger.”

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is it possible to pay someone to create an excel sheet for me?
2·2 days agoYes! Things like Fiverr exist. But learning to use spreadsheet software (I recommend LibreOffice) will be helpful as a long-term skill. If you can find the time to learn it yourself, it will save you time and money later.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Never understood this. If something foreign enters you your white blood cells go after it like a dog in heat, Would this not mean that our cells are smart enough to discern bad from good?
1·2 days agoI don’t think a dog in heat is a good analogy, seeing as immune cells attack invaders, not try to have reproduce with them. Anyway, others have given good answers.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How bad is bullying across schools in the US?
4·2 days agoQuite bad. I (a gay guy) used to be called a faggot a bit. I was also mocked for my modest household income, and threatened with death because of my left-wing political stance. Then again, I lived in a Republiklan area, so that all makes sense.

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•When people recommend Brave browser.English
1·5 days agoFirefox Focus, Ironfox, or others recommended here. I will note that Waterfox was always quite slow on an android device of mine.
There are some decent ones out there. That Windows shortcut always sucked ass compared to their character map, and that wasn’t great either.
ClamAV. And having it built-in is called bloatware.

Unjustifiable mutilation.
