*chock full

Interesting! Thanks.

Turnips more or less grow themselves, but raising a barn without modern cordless tools and truss plates requires a lot of the skills we should be lamenting the loss of. Hand saws, hand planes, handmade nails (that are expensive), hand sharpening and sanding… there’s more to building a barn than growing a field of turnips is all I’m sayin.

You’re a funny bugger :)
I was going to reply to your hourglass and sundial joke with a reflection that hourglasses are so much older than the relatively recent development of sundials, but you clearly knew that so I didn’t. And then the one-two. You could have done cuneiform vs hieroglyphs but tablets vs papyrus is the better gag. Keep it up :)
Is the point of this comic that they are all cannibals and will kill and eat that unnamed character in the middle? If so, okay. There just isn’t an actual joke there at all.

“Someone else should solve this problem! Think of the children!”

Mansions saved thousands of lives and more for future generations
Nah this thread isn’t about the housing crisis

Lol I bet your comment confused them, that line is originally from that On Top of Spaghetti song and it was repurposed by Bread in his classic number The Meatballs the Meatballs the Meatballs the Meatballs the Meatballs the Meatballs of Liiiife. I love Bread. I’m a huge Breadhead and Bread can get all up in my guts any time.

I had no idea it was synthesised from oil! Yet another reason not to take it. My local chemist has a sign that says “Did you know? Paracetamol is available for patients with long-term needs.” Big oil and big pharma colluding to cause liver damage on the basis that it’s barely an analgesic and doesn’t interact with most other drugs.

I always think of Jesus as a Buddhist Jew.
It’s a stylised L, for libre.
Sounds like natural personhood for AI is coming
But apart from knowing their first name, and sometimes the first letter of their last name, and memorising their faces to turn them into Miis, that sounds COMPLETELY ANONYMOUS
I didn’t comment elsewhere but from this incoherent comment it’s clear you don’t have the first clue what you’re on about, or why I said a million years (evolving a major change like sea to land takes hundreds of millions or billions of years).
Ideas are good, but people contributing ideas that show they don’t know anything at all about the topic, while insisting they’re right, gets tiresome.
Well that’s too hot to cook! I was just complaining that the antipodes aren’t all sunshine and good times :)

They learnt from the best
You’re a sensible fellow and I appreciate your rational perspective and positive, encouraging attitude to your fellow human beings. Good idea on the virtual hike too, I’ll do that next time I’m out and about if I remember.
China has still fucked up its environment massively though. Being the world’s factory produces a lot of byproducts. Sure, they’re concentrating them and trying to detoxify the worst of it but the place is swimming in effluent that does great damage to life in one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. “Green” in the sense of renewable energy and climate change mitigation is not green in the sense of preserving the last tracts of intact wilderness to limit mass extinctions.
