Nice! Great to see another app available outside of Google Play Store :D

I prefer Mullvad, you can choose filters if you want to have blocked ads, trackers, adult content etc. or nothing
Well no. I’ve changed my mind a lot of times about what I want to do not because of industry but simply because my taste changed. I believe it’s important to do what you love, personally I don’t care if I don’t make lots of money.
So glad that one of the largest youtubers is promoting Linux, FOSS and privacy :D
I’m kinda sick of EVERYTHING having it’s own “AI”, I just hope it’s only a passing phase like it was with crypto
Personally I don’t think there’s a good e-mail provider, e-mail by itself is unsecure. Most you can do is self hosting one but again that takes time maintaing and can be unsecure if you don’t configure it properly. I just find one that allows me to use IMAP and POP3 ports so I can use any client. But if I had to recommend one I’d say posteo, it’s 1 euro per month or if you don’t want to pay there’s also disroot.
Not sure if this counts as an alternative but getting off tiktok, all that mindless scrolling is sucking your life away.
Still can’t believe that Pewdiepie became one of those Linux youtubers, only thing missing is linux distro reviews and why he can’t use X software xD
I like that it’s decentralized, FOSS and that anyone can host their own instance. I like that I don’t have to give my personal information to create an account.
What I don’t like which is not about software but more community is that there is censorship of opinions which creates echo chambers, I’d really like to hear diverse opinions from all sides. Also how it’s focused on world being doom and gloom, every time I get on lemmy frontpage I get depressed, luckily I filter communities and only see communities that I like so I can avoid that.
But all in all I like lemmy and mostly can ignore it’s cons and focus on it’s pros even though I’ve more talked about it’s cons oopsie xD
Firefox ESR with user js and some of my personal modifications, ESR because I don’t have to worry about new stuff for 2 years. Another idea if you don’t want to worry about new stuff in browser is using Mullvad as regular browser, all you have to do is turn of always private mode but if you don’t want to mess around I’d recommend LibreWolf or Waterfox.
Can we go 5 minutes without someone proposing a ridicilous law?!
Can’t they focus on problems that actually matter?!
I think you’re mixing privacy with security, iPhone is secure but it’s not private, it’s slighty more private than Google Android but not what would you call private.
Samsung can soft brick your phone so basically backdoor.
Google Pixel with custom ROM like GrapheneOS or CalyxOS is considered to be best in terms of privacy.
Another cheaper alternative if you don’t want to give money to Google or spend too much is Motorola G32, G42, G52 with CalyxOS but to unlock bootloader you have to make account on their website.
You can always ask online community here or on other platforms since they can provide you with exactly what you want.
That would be no. Even if you use ADB to remove bunch of packages that make connections you still can’t be sure if you will have privacy since stock ROM is proprietary. DNS can block some connections but Android and apps can use their own DNS if they want so it also depends.
If question was about security then yes, sticking with stock ROM is usually more secure although many argue that GrapheneOS holds highest security standard. DNS can also improve security since it can block malicious domains, that depends which DNS provider you’re using.
I think it provides fake data but don’t take my word.
Data only needed for that specific service to function
Aurora Store is 3rd party client for Google Play Store while MicroG is open source implementation of Google libraries so they are not quite comparable.
I’d say MicroG with Aurora Store is most private you can be if you really need to use Google services. You can use Aurora Store with anonymous Google Account that they provide you and MicroG is only sharing necessary data with Google servers.
If I’m not mistaken Firefox’s tracker blocker on strict and uBlock Origin do the same job
All games bought outside of GOG
