Bingo. Trump already started playing with his corporate finger puppets, emboldening some, threatening others.
Same reason Zuckerberg, surely the expert on the matter, had this weird rambling about “masculine energy” very recently. What a Trumpian phrase.
Yeah, we must be careful as to not muddle the waters here. Employees want 32 hour weeks while bosses are trying to give them 40 hour weeks, shoehorned into four days, instead, to “improve efficiency.” These two are not the same.
I had to sit through multi-day workshops that could have been a one-liner.
Little did doingthestuff know that from the 3rd meal on, they will not let you drive or operate heavy equipment.
Greenland is just the low-hanging fruit, an easy target. Something for the masses at home. Taking it won’t take an afternoon. In fact, they’ll just show up, plant a flag, next to it a “No Danes” sign, then call it a day. Then make a biiig celebration of it at home so everybody is distracted while they irreparably dismantle American democracy.
Funny you should say that. Near the end of WSB’s 1953 novel “Junkie”, IIRC, the main protagonist complains that he doesn’t understand the slang of the new generation anymore. For example their use of “that stinks!”
Can’t stand the staleness. Apart from the frigging bots and automods, it feels like a bunch of boring, shallow, sated establishment guys that like “pretending that one could be hip with a mortgage payment,” as Bela Koe-Krompecher once put it.
I’ve seen it described by screenwriters as having the perfect script. Because everything that happens in the movie is a totally organic, logical consequence of what happened right before.
I didn’t come to rescue Rambo from you. I came here to rescue you from him.
Yeah I guess it’s always been this way. Does anyone remember the Captain Oblivious mp3 “mixtapes” he used to put out regularly, like 20 years ago? Indie and underground music. Rule of thumb, I would listen to only about 1 in 20 songs more than once.
Jubilee is coming. Whether that’s good or not in your book probably depends on whether you are a devout Catholic, but its certainly a rare event.
That all adults are smokers.
This quote really struck a chord with me:
Over the years as we all worked our way into time as if it were a field of sawgrass, cutting our ankles, a slog into middle age for me and a slow sunken decline towards death for the generation before me and my siblings. There were break-ups, fuck-ups, children and my own struggles with misty sorrow that has seemed to follow me like a sick-feral cat. A walking disappointment was what I felt like much of the time, even though I had enough confidence in myself to live the kind of life I desired. […] In my mind I see the universe swirling like a giant whirlpool swallowing up everything all at once, and in this grand whirlpool people are smaller than a droplet of water rushing over Niagara Falls and then become mist. And when I die, my memories die with me and perhaps for one or two generations I will be remembered for a few things in my life but not for the mundane or what my daily interactions were like, not the cuddling of my dog nor the pride in my children or the laughter I was a part of, so much laughter that it caused people’s head’s to turn.
Quick then Zuck, ban radical ideas like Open Source even harder from Facebook if you want to stay on Don’s good side.
