  • Having dicked around with Local LLMs, they do get better the more they learn about you. But going through what these things figure out is kind of horrifying.

Like looking into the training data they find out, they can infer a lot about you and your methodology and it is creepy. Like really creepy.

I’m not anti-AI by any means. I have a Local LLM Agent in my router to keep an eye on things in case anything fucks up and it’s pretty good as my little administrator, but still. It knows a lot about me to the point I had to catch myself to not fucking call it “he” or “they.” It’s an object but it’s an object with a frightening amount of info on me. I just wish the average populace had this level of think of what you are giving up.

If you’re not that techy… well first, what the fuck are you doing on Lemmy and on the Tech server? But then I want you to think about this. If someone stalked you for a week, what could they find out about you? How much do you think they would learn?

That is how these huge companies are and especially AI. They’re stalkers who manage to learn a lot about you by just observing you.

  • Ain’t no way I will ever try Gentoo. I don’t even know what “compiling from source” means or what the difference between that an “binaries” are.

You know, it is shocking I work IT when I barely understand tech at all. Though to be fair I am a help desk guy. I have Google IT Support, ITIL 4 Foundation, CCNA, and Security+ so I know some stuff. Kind of. A bit.

    I should just take that Linux+ class shouldn’t I?

  • Gotta say, I don’t like this. If you are on a JURY, you know a fucking Jury, I feel you should put your emotions aside and focus on the facts of the case.

The facts are that Lindsay Clancy showed clear signs of her mental state degrading, only really had pills pushed on her by her medical team, expressed concern to her husband about how she was going to harm the kids in December of 2022, and both her and her husband expressed how the medication was making her worse and worse to the point of suicidal intent up to the night of the incident.

For people like you and me who are not on the jury? An emotional response is okay. The brute fact is 3 children lost their lives, but if you are on the Jury and her fate is in your hand, you really do need to be cautious about this. You need to put facts over feelings. To me, this looks like an open and shut case of Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. The facts point to it.

If this Juror really did not present anything to the contrary and went off vibes? That sucks. That really really sucks. And if he was browsing his phone in the room as stated here… WHY THE FUCK ARE PHONES ALLOWED IN THE DELIBERATION ROOM!? Was he betting on the case on Kalshi and fixing this to make money off it going to mistrial!? Was he looking at social media about this case!? Was he talking to people about this?!

This is an absolute failure on the Juror’s part and he failed at his civic duty.

  • I noticed after 2016, things just got really really bad for Reddit. I got banned in like 2021 and wasn’t told why, so I filed an appeal and was told my account was brought back. I wasn’t given a reason for the band, however. I got banned from a ton of different subreddits, many of which I never even visited and, once again, no reason. It was like 2024 I dumped Reddit for good.

I believe this is the cost of AI moderating websites. I have had friends who had similar experiences with other websites like Discord, Instagram, and Twitter. They got banned, weren’t told why, filed an appeal, and got back in. Remember Kafka’s trial? AI made this real for the website. Your crime is you triggered some kind of automated response and you’re not getting an explination.

Now stop whining and give us your ID so Peter Thiel can find the antichrist or something!

  • Did a gas leak happen in here? Why are the comments on this post so weird?

Maybe some people are a bit too ‘all or nothing’ when it comes to privacy. Youtube isn’t the best, but what Gamers Nexus does is incredible investigative journalist work and they should be celebrated for it. I’d have had no idea about this had they not done the work they did. Fuck Google, for sure, but let’s not toss the baby out with the bathwater.

Privacy is really more a spectrum than anything. A spectrum of what are you willing to deal with and how much is it going to impact your life. At least that is how I see that. Anyways, on that note, fuck LG.
