I didn’t notice exactly that. For context; I’m a late Gen Z-er who grew up in a town with very high-rated schools where just about every kid went to college. I do recall getting uncomfortable pressure to go onto college even though I had no interest; but that may have been because I was coming from a conservative family and they wanted to make sure that wasn’t stifling me.
Also the name pairing is really funny :)

DOGE and Stephen Miller considered declaring over 2.7 million living people as dead to deny them benefits and deport them and deprive them of all other rights. MURICA 🤡

If you read the article, the judge did sanction both sides’ legal teams; and not ChatGPT.

In the USA the closest thing we have to this are “gifted” labels (whatever that even means) and I still see adults experiencing existential crises over that; and other arguing about the use of said labels. I’m an outsider to that world, but from what I see; The label… doesn’t even have a systemic impact on anything??? and it seems to be a point of major stress and conflict still.
This is all to say labeling kids is always harmful; and making a “sort kids for life” system like in That transphobic writer’s fantasy school is definitely not a good policy for a nation ;-;

Yeah. It’s not making folks infertile. If you want to have kids, you can still make the time to do that. Reducing accidental pregnancy is entirely a win in my book.

Education and natural social pressure almost killed tobacco entirely (until big tobacco invested millions upon millions to push the “vaping” trend). <- Edit: possibly misinformation. thank you to both commenters for their replies. I will research to revise my understanding.
Prohibition… of alcohol caused riots and created an underground market that enriched the Kennedys. of drugs led to mass imprisonment and made the drug crises a part of daily life. (Granted, that was largely the intent of the War on Drugs, but I digress).

Yes and No. Yes I agree scapegoating is immoral and also not productive. No his rhetoric (combined with that of pro-MAGA content) wasn’t solely fixated on destroying lives of people for funsies.
The immigrants he accused of “stealing your jobs”. People of color were allegedly hogging healthcare and houses. “DEI” keeps white men from getting jobs. “Woke” made men lonely. Trans people were corrupting kids and doing “sex change operations in schools”. yadda yadda. It’s all nonsense to us, but it’s compelling nonsense to the USA population, and I think we ought to reiterate why.
Leftists have solutions to these issues, too—largely based on the knowledge that the scarcity is artificial. Single-payer healthcare; clawing back homes from private equity; worker protections and unemployment safety nets; third spaces for socialization…

I really wanted to believe that, and I clung to that hope for months after the election. I don’t believe it any longer. With the way Kamala instantly conceded, and the fact that the Dems were overseeing the election.
Also consider the lack of a widespread resistance. In the face of boots-on-the-ground fascism marching through the streets, the anti-Trump coalition has had less than 100 people actually act in opposition to this regime. The anti-mask protests did more in defiance of day-to-day life in America than anyone and anything left of MAGA. Sure there are many voices complaining, but again that could be a loud minority.
As much as the Democrats and their allies want to make this seem like Trump’s wins are a fluke, the environment just doesn’t show it. Yes, there are blue folks, and according to the US election a bit under half of the country opposed Donald Trump in 2024. If the polls were rigged to any significant degree, MAGA would have had riots before they could get their “Alligator Auschwitz” built, or any other concentration camps; and you wouldn’t have Flock surveillance cameras erected across the nation.
Of course there are some fighting back; but we are a minority right now. The majority of Americans simply do not care about their fellow citizens enough to defy the government in any way. Hell, I’d argue the majority of Americans do not care about their citizens or their environment. Blame social media, or the political incompetency, or “chemicals in the water”—whatever the reason, it’s evident every day.

just look at the executive agencies. it’s not exactly secret when the executive branch is posting edgy shitposts. like, chain-posting shitposts.

This always gets me fuming. This party did everything to stop this guy, and then they want to share the cake when they were impeding in every step of baking it.

Like, I know I’m cynical as fuck. This is why. Watching Trump get reelected robbed me of all respect for humanity.

for girls, it depends on the type of HRT. Some trans-fem HRT lowers the production of testosterone; other HRT blocks the body from using testosterone, and can actually increase T levels as a result (but without the typical symptoms of high testosterone).

yeah maybe Zohran Mamdani, who had no political following at the time, should have thrown his hat into the 2024 Democratic primary. When was that again?

“Sex-testing” children in schools sounds like something you’d find in a niche pervert hentai drooled over by 4chan /pol/ board weirdos; right along with all the other infringements on bodily autonomy we’ve seen from this regime. We don’t live in “Hell”. We live in the fantasy of the formerly rightfully-ostracized.

Turns out “against threats foreign and domestic” means about as much as “Make America Great Again” or “Liberty and justice for all”…

I don’t disagree with your premise, but you have to understand that this country has a large block that thinks day-today and, when they vote, will just vote opposition when they are unhappy with their life.
Neolib Democrats like Joe Biden and the stonewalling Democratic party from 2012-2016 prompted their fascist successors by linking the DNC with life being awful. Donald Trump lost in 2020 for much of the same, but it is worth noting that he did Almost win because bigotry and Christo-fascism also hold a large influence on the voting block.

Watch any one of their “Fight The Oligarchy” tours in red districts and it’s clear that the problem isn’t that these districts are inherently unwinnable. The whole reason Trump sweeped in 2016 and got such loyalty is because he promised to fix problems that Democrats wouldn’t acknowledge.

I’m referring to the DNC broadly here. See, this article: https://www.thecityreporter.nyc/2025/09/18/schumer-jeffries-mamdani-endorsement-congress/
