I study mechatronics in Germany and I don’t avoid it. I have yet to meet a single person who is avoiding it. I have made tremendous progress learning with it. But that is mostly the case because my professors refuse to give solutions for the seminars. Learning is probably the only real advantage that I have seen yet. If you don’t use it for cheating or shorcuts, which is of course a huge problem. But getting answers to problems, getting to ask specific follow up questions and most of all researching and getting to the right information faster (through external links from AI) has made studying much more efficient and enjoyable for me.

I don’t like the impact on society AI is having bur personally it has really helped me so far. (discounting the looming bubble crises and the market effect it is having on memory f.e.)

I think it’s an interesting fantasy to entertain. But you have to be careful not to use it to compensate for feeling like a bad parent when you fail at more mundane but real ways to care for you kids. I only say this because anyone I have ever heard say this more than once, gave me the impression to be compensating for something. Because they were not really in the best of life circumstances with their family. I include my own parents in this, who often madw hypotheticals like this, but were and are never there for me when I actually need them. So I try not to boast about hypotheticals with my own kid.

I would 100%. But I will add my opinion to this statement.

Taking a bullet ist such an extremely rare circumstance (especially if you live in a safe country) it will never ever happen in my life. It’s just a cheap statement to make yourself feel good. And I despise it when parents say it who I don’t feel make a good effort to support their kids in day to day life. Your kid does not benefit from a hypothetical life sacrifice. It benefits from your daily support, work and effort as a parent every day though.

This is probably the best and most noticable thing our Government has ever done. Also one of the very few thing hat helps out young people (but not them in particular).

It is not possible at all. No one familiar with German law and culture think this. This is not a talking point I have ever heard discussed seriously. There ist probably hundreds of reasons why it could never happen. Our legal framework ist very strong and we have a strong civil framework of resistance in case something goes in that direction.

Yeah laws or very specialized tools/Maschines can get crazy, but I think our lawmakers are also trolling sometimes with the long titles.

I don’t think Moderation as a concept is wrong. I also filed an appeal, so i’ll see what they say after taking a closer look. But I sense a huge problem of people not being able to understand any nuances in this topic. So they just leave the whole thing for the extreme right as their talking point.

How would you solve problems pertaining to immigration when you can’t talk about experiences. There is actually a large problem of parallel societies in germany that has been rampant for decades because no one wants to talk about it. I mean like people doing what I talked about in my comments or not learning the countrys language in decades and having no contact to native germans. I my comment I was actually talking about people who were born here and their familys lived here for generations. In western europe in general it’s driving people to the extreme right, because no one dares talk about it in a normal and legitimate way. Censorship only makes these problems worse. There needs to be a way to talk about this topic with some nuance, not just blatant hate rhetoric.

I think that should be decided by the readers of the comment not by reddit. Unless I actually incite hate or violence. Or maybe if I had a history of leaving comments like that. But it was the first time I talked about it. Or if my account was new or a bot. I don’t like to assume the worst about people just because they criticise something adjacent to a controversial topic. That’s how problems get swept under the rug and never solved.

I just got a warning and [removed by reddit] because I told a dry cut story about turkish coworkers of mine harassing women and queer people and talking about stuff like “buying wifes” from their home country as an answer to someone posting a similar story. I got warned for “promoting hate and violence against marginalized groups”. I made no generelizations, promoted no violence or hate. I actually got upset because of my coworkers doing exactly that. This is not the internet as I know it. Where you get censored because you talked about something that happened in your life.

Well I usually only ride my bike, so I have barely any use for google maps. I usually use naviki or osmand. Maps is trash for bikes. But sometimes maps is nice to find a shop in the city and see opening times, reviews and a website link.
