Weird. I work at a college and there’s tons of money for everything except what directly relates to education. We have a nice new stadium and community theater, but they keep canceling classes and not replacing professors. I know for a fact that stadium was bankrolled by the alumni, so if my tuition fees aren’t going towards a professor that physically works at my university, where are they going?

I spent all of last night asking my cat why she’s being bad. It’s probably a good sign that a 14 year old cat is so frisky, but she really didn’t need to do all of the things I hate on a night that I was in so much pain lol. When I was in high school my area got hit with five major hurricanes in a row. That was twenty years ago, and the state still continues to make decisions like climate change is a desirable thing. Outside of everything else, I don’t want the yearly stress of property damage

Why even bother making that comment? People should be free to be themselves, and that attitude is part of why LGBT people are afraid. If you bothered to look through my comment history, and you definitely did not with all those assumptions, you would see that I am disabled and queer. Those two aspects of myself are politically targeted. If they cut VA benefits like Musk has threatened, I will go back to being homeless, and one of those people you pretend don’t exist.
The real kicker is that I grew up upper middle class probably in a similar community that your friends are in. I know exactly how welcome I would be.
I moved from Florida to Washington (then later the Midwest). I’ll never return to Florida, but am constantly dreaming I’ll earn enough to be able to afford Washington again
My undergraduate tuition at a state public university is under 10k a year. I was severely injured in the military though, so the government pays my bill.
What you see in the news is the result of predatory practices and people not being able to use their degrees in a profitable way. There’s a lot of jokes about philosophy programs and art history degrees being a pipeline to working in fast food, because often the only way to use those degrees is to get more education (more loans) so you can teach the subject.
I’m sorry you’ve experienced so much harm because of cars. I don’t understand how there’s so much evidence showing how destructive cars are, and people still advocate for bigger cars and more lanes
I know someone that doesn’t drive at all, he bikes everywhere even in -40 temps. And he still protests against public transport because “taxes bad”. Some people will get halfway there and still not see what benefits there would be.

My neighbor will blow them into my driveway (which is higher than his so it’s a never ending battle) and then he’ll walk between my house and the house on his other side blowing leaves to the other side of the street. He wastes so much gas every day, I would find it funny if it weren’t infuriating. Like, who the heck even buys gas leaf blowers anymore?

There’s a place in Atlanta that claimed to do conversions, but honestly even if I made the trip I don’t think it’s feasible to go full electric where I live. It’s just over 200 miles to the nearest public charger, and I live in a cold place.
