Easily done, I already avoid them.
Japanese workers get more days off than American workers.
Japan 26
USA 10
Japanese on average don’t work longer than Americans (2017)
#39 United States 1,765.00
#43 Japan 1,738.36
Don’t get me wrong, they have a crazy work culture, but it’s worse in the USA.
Even without capitalism you need production, and children used to be part of that. Back then you would have as many kids as you could so that they could run your farm.
I’m not defending the current system, but profit isn’t the only reason the birthrate is declining in so many countries.
Had me in the first half lol
Japanese are very against violence, and incidentally it’s the safest first world country. And the work culture has been improving in the last decade or so - though not nearly fast enough.
Japans GDP has been almost flat since the mid 90s, they are not following the west’s “”“infinite”“” growth. Not that I’m saying capitalism isn’t part of the problem, it absolutely is, just saying it isn’t the entire story.
Humans are all different. It’s difficult to accurately generalize them. Some people like only fans, but for other people it does literally nothing for them.
To each their own.
Internet is going to be internet, but this place is like 10% as adversarial as reddit from my experience so far. I haven’t even had anybody DM me to end myself yet. At reddit I got those for saying my favorite game was Total Annihilation.
Less true in other languages. Twitter was big in Japan where 140 chars goes a bit further.
It’s also one of my favorites.
I think your assessment is optimistic.
He’ll ruin the gov like he ruined X
Hey thanks, I do lean a little hard on the self deprecating humor sometimes.
Reddit has been getting worse for years, and the comments there are so adversarial and insincere.
Users definitely can get sick of bad sites, what happened with X shows that. Their user base is a small fraction of what it was a few years ago.
I’m definitely liking it here though!
They care about money. If they don’t go alone with it they probably get fined. So yeah, I think they will.
And it’s not uncommon. Lots of countries don’t call other countries by their names. Japan is Nihon. China is Zhōngguó. Germany is Deutschland.
But those are for historical reasons, changing it specifically to be different is nuts.
More like I have no personality and just go with the flow 😜
In 2010 I was part of the Great Digg Exodus, and now in 2025 I’m part of the Reddit->Lemmy migration. Truly I’m part of the crowd.
I’ve been posting lemmy on reddit, and have gotten a few bans for my trouble.
I welcome the bans.
