  • 1% is generous, in my opinion.

That’s assuming they clear several hurdles and their little nightmare system works out to be the dream they want for them.

It won’t. It’ll be a dystopian nightmare for them too.

They always fuck up their goals and only end up closer by the sheer inertia and risk insulation that controlling our economic output gives them.

Then some bright and talented person who dreams of doing the right thing provides the missing links in their machinations and they either steal or buy them.

They made sure that wouldn’t happen this time by preemptively trying to rob all of the brightness until those who can won’t give them anymore, and those who will are slowly being cognitively robbed of the capability itself.

The AI taking over is both (as currently deployed) impossible and probably amongst the best outcomes, compared to the deathly wave of fucking ineptitude these chuds are unleashing and will continue to unleash.

    • I addressed the realpolitik in my last sentence re: black sites.

    • You seem to overestimate the acumen of the current members of the praetorian guard, in a way that is out of sync with their recorded performance lately.

    • The hypothetical presented has the perpetrator instigating a physical altercation in a moment of passionate rage, whereupon the perpetrator has placed themselves in an unfavorable position from which there is not enough time to avoid consequences.

Whether the Secret Service risks shooting their charge to kill the hypothetical reporter on the spot or does their actual job and throws the sack of lies over the back of a strapping agent is not a part of the hypothetical.

In such a scenario, the victim may be dead, but the perp, does not escape the classical (maladjusted) but natural response to saying shit like what is regularly produced with impunity, to another human being. The elderly perp.

It doesn’t matter how big or tough you are. It does not matter what is legal, what is right or wrong, or any other factor. The victim would be dead, and the perp would be immune.

You’re looking at the whole hypothetical exercise the wrong way. Despite its cathartic construction, it’s not about how big or tough.

The enemy cannot be considered neither overwhelmingly strong nor inconsequentially weak.

To say either one in absolutist terms is to play word games, rather than approaching a fight how it should be approached.

Honest estimation bound to context is required to “Know thy enemy”.

  • He could be found not guilty due to Presidential action all day long for not committing assault and battery for all I care.

So long as the boxing champ working for AXY news or whatever is also found to have acted in self defense in accordance to their jurisdiction after their reflexive and mighty right hook starts a needed constitutional crisis.

The courts can handle the absurdity.

Not that the presidential immunity is ok at all, far from it.

But there’s a vital distinction between “Can’t be charged for anything while performing Presidential duties” and “Anyone who exercises a legal right that crosses unto the protected person has that legal right deactivated”.

Which…yes, pretty much is defacto currently for 99/100 things that any aggrieved party could claim as a grievance committed by the US. Gov, currently and effectively, I’m aware.

But unstoppable force meeting immovable mouth?

I feel codifying that too deeply would be a legal bridge too far.

Not for decency but because what it means for the puppeteering interests. The reporter would be more at risk of ending in a black site than a courtroom, imo.

  • It would be even more hilarious than that.

Assuming he couldn’t just TACO and leave the encounter at the first opportunity anyways.

He’d be trying to one-up the exchange but he’s neither smart enough for genuine roasting quips, nor half as crass as an instigator could be.

Just constant sad old man energy “No you’s” while getting dunked on.

Would take him like 30 seconds of genuinely facing vocal opposition he can’t simply pay to have stop, before he folds and completely narcissists-implodes into full body tantrums his physique can’t cash.

  • The commenter you replied to, basically described basic human-ing for you, and why it works and has always worked, in the past.

Your rebuttal is focused on…the Internet as an object of stagnant sociocultural jamming, is that right? I think that was the gist.

I won’t engage that directly at the moment, as it could just as easily be insight with poor communication skills behind it, as it could be a strange conspiracy theory, as it could be propaganda meant to deflate and discourage.

All equally plausible places to come from, because you keep repeating the same bits and not going deeper.

We should be choosing lower effort and maximizing for effect. Protests are high effort low effect. Online culture jamming is low effort, high effect. It is logic to anyone who thinks about this honestly

What is a low effort-high effect action you believe we should be taking?

On the same token, if your tactics to achieve a strategy which you’ve yet to share are sound…what are high effort and low effect actions we can force the opposition into making?

  • Hey! Some of us sociopaths don’t give a fuck about titles, position, and power!

In times of abundance we just happily feign whatever is in the best interest of being able to happily feign, which usually helps out the tribe and that’s why we got to keep making enough babies to pass that along.

Ethics and morality are complex/expensive, no doubt about that. Everything you said (except equating all sociopaths with the same angles of sociopathy) is true, no question.

Luckily, our selfish drive to get back to the comfy and unassuming does tend to result in…headaches for the other, less integrating members of the worst of humanity class.

We’re outnumbered though and can’t tell precisely when it’s time to stop trying to feign along and go dispassionately tear apart the obstacles standing between us quietly living in the metaphorically cave near the village and basking in the sounds of a happy society whose periphery is all we need to get by.

  • No harm done, and I certainly understand a thing or two about failing to communicate myself in a way that is parse-able by others and retains my intent. I understand that all too well.

As for broken arrows: “A Broken Arrow is defined as an unexpected event involving nuclear weapons that result in the accidental launching, firing, detonating, theft, or loss of the weapon.”

The nuclear powers all have way too many embarrassingly stupid ones on record, given that you’d expect nuclear weapons to be the literal most important thing with the literal most stringent procedures for handling.

There was one in NM in the 50s with some limited contamination exposed in the local area, and I thought that’s what you were referring to.

Wikipedia has a neat list of both broken arrows (military accidents) and civilian ones, involving nuclear technology.

  • The racism is just the lead in for class-ism.

Yes. That is also implied in my comment, under a careful read. The progression is the same and has been there in the US forever.

    Their dream model is:

Immigration - > Opposing Ideologies - > Racism -> Ethno state -> Enforced hierarchy on the remaining population

Every single one of those steps are all enforcing class division. There isn’t any other war besides class war.

But the mechanisms the fascist leverages to achieve it don’t include them screaming it out, for obvious reasons.

Racism, is what made the centrist be okay with MLK’s assassination. His beginning to move the message from the racism cover story employed by the system, to the class-division foundations beneath, the reason he was killed.

I’m not entirely sure how to interpret your on fire analogy, except to agree that everything is indeed on fire?

Also pretty sure you’re referring to a broken arrow incident with the AF thing? Yeah, there’s literal and metaphorical nuclear bombs out there waiting for the fire to reach them, I can dig that.

  • They’re not compatible, under the current paradigms. You’re not wrong, imo.

But neither is the commenter you’re replying to.

It ain’t going away, and as it is (in every respect from function to marketing to access) ‘AI’ is currently absolutely poisonous for mental development, no matter the age.

But that’s not inherently married to the way it will always be used.

Imo, the ban should be in place all the way in K-12, for no less than 5 years, and some resources devoted to enable school districts to engage the necessary mechanisms to assess how to marry the use of AI technology into educational use, with an actual thorough process in place to assess how and if it can be done in a manner beneficial to educational goals.

It’s not enough to have a techbro declare it the best thing in the world for learning, a child development psychologist declare it the worst thing to exist, and an education expert sitting between them looking anguished.

They need to all be locked in the same room, metaphorically speaking, and honestly arrive at a form that is meaningfully impactful to student outcomes (if one can be found), before it’s something that schools should attempt to use within the curriculum.

  • Why the fuck is there even a case?! He proved he’s a natural born citizen!

The case is because they initially did the fascist, and any doing of fascist comes with a free kangaroo show, because…

No court case for him to exonerate himself is needed.

The case is not about him. He’s going to be found to be cleared of any wrongdoing.

What they’re going to do and why the appearance of being benevolent matters to the apparatus is…

The only thing needed is that the fucking clowns who did this be fired and barred from ever working for the federal government again. Hell, they should be the ones locked away, if anything.

… establishing the appearance that they’re the beleaguered good guys and there’s just too many immigrants for basic humanity and common sense procedural adherence.

Because they’ll be found to be in the wrong, they’ll appeal regardless of it landing in one of the shitty or one of the slightly less shitty Federal district courts, and then SCOTUS can expand their qualified immunity to include ruining the life of actual citizens willy-nilly.

Because they’re gonna need carte blanche to make more “mistakes” with deporting citizens as planned all along, as yet another ratchet in the slow build towards open and naked racism.

Gotta have immunity from mistakes when you start your pretext with immigration, before you build up to the triangles and star patches portion on all the undesirables.

  • These ones?

    We uh, can’t.

Not in the timescale that matters to us, with the resources and technological development available at hand.

    But generally speaking?

You would need to introduce a different, runaway feedback loop that modifies/cancels/counters the first.

Like fungi did when they learned to eat lignin, or cyanobacteria introduced when they started spitting out that horrible and nasty O2.

Time and scale are what will do us in.

We just didn’t pace ourselves at all, societally speaking.

Weren’t able to build the chemistry and engineering tools needed to meaningfully expand the scope of the system beyond our planet to access any other resources or solutions beyond it…

And still cannot agree to any meaningful planet side changes that might even remotely allow for later pipedreams, because they need to happen now.

The Futurama ice cube joke is funny, but we can’t even attempt anything half as harebrained on a fraction of that scale.

  • Could we build an AI network to fight this?

There’s a reason why some very bright people in tech with decades of experience aren’t dismissing AI whole cloth.

The dangers are vast. The social harm is a real effect. The brain atrophy is an actual pitfall to be avoided, even at the cost of tying yourself to the metaphorical ship mast.

But the possibilities are also real, else they wouldn’t be using them against us.

The hatred is fine and all, but I really really wish the kind of people who frequent the Fediverse and spouted all of the encouraging anti-establishment stances…also minded their basic Sun Tzu:

If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.
