was using tails at a cafe that blocks all videos (for some reason) i used a bridge (the easy default one) went to invidious but no videos worked because of the network. everything else on the site worked. does it know the contents of the page despite tor? (im not using a work or school given device i am using framework)

(i also have an unsafe home network and have to use a google wireless access point. also have someone who has a virus. (we dont share the same device just same network) i cant remove it because i get scolded for messing with her stuff and spying on her (??? yes the virus is spyware the irony lol))

(also any qubes specific advice would help since i wont be using tails as my daily driver anymore since i learned its not for that. also not a fan of the gimmicks but thats just me.)

    The cafe’s network can’t see the content of your network traffic. Just the encrypted version (which to it is indecipherable). They can see roughly how much data you’re uploading and how much data you’re downloading. If they are blocking things and that’s why videos aren’t working, it’s probably just based on how much data you’re downloading through a given connection. My guess is that they drop the connection after a certain number of megabytes or some such. (Do videos start to play and stop shortly after starting? Or do they refuse to start? If they refuse to start, it might be more that Invidious (or maybe Cloud Flare or some such on their end) blocks Tor. If it is on Invidious’ end, it may or may not be intentional that it doesn’t work with Tor.)

    The cafe also can’t tell by inspecting your traffic who the “other end” of the network connection is, just that one end of the connection is your computer.

    But…

    The cafe almost definitely has cameras. If the cameras can see your screen, or if your screen is in view of staff or other patrons at the cafe, then that could be just as bad as inspecting your network traffic would be. It’s unlikely they’d block videos that way, but it’s at least as much of a privacy concern as inspecting your traffic would be.

      the video refuses to start and shows and shows an error message that never pops up if im home. also used tor and it works fine at home (besides when youtube blocks invidious which gives a different error)
