Inspired by a beehaw chat on Flock, I spent way too much time today (almost 6 hours) turning my discussion on governance (about 12 hours of work) into a discussion on governance with Flock. The purpose is to highlight that modern governance is a dizzyng array of public-private partnerships, traditional government, and service providers. It can result in accountability problems when contracts and services rest with private companies. The public rarely hears or understands what’s their local governments are agreeing to before the contract is signed. The problems that arise from this are present all around us.
