In the last of an essay series, I tackle the Rule of Law. The weight of the essay rests on defining and understanding what it is. Having read, and stressed, over this latest essay a few times, I’d distill it down to making laws, agreeing to be bound by them, and applying them fairly. Its not perfect, but its what democracies have. As a measure for democratic success, the US fails. And not just the feds, but states, too.

Though applicable to all democracies, I do lean heavily into the US and conclude, like one commenter plainly stated, the US is not a democracy anymore. Even it was faltering or an oligarchy in a democratic trench coat, the jig is up.

I really struggled with this one. Time and research rabbit holes. But, here we are. Thanks for the support and reads Beehaw (and the wider world). Since Walt Disney World complaints are all the rage as Florida’s warming climate melted vacations, next time I’ll be continuing on next time with melting asphalt and bad urban planning.
