I do think there’s a part of Trump that’s buying the religious rhetoric in his inner circle. Tell a narcissist enough times that they’re not just special, but the incarnation of Christ Himself, and thus can do whatever he damn well pleases, and they’ll latch onto it as an excuse if nothing else.
