I don’t know enough women anatomy and I am too afraid to ask.

Anyone have an answer?

I answered on the ask Lemmy round of this question but - lack of desire. When I was getting periods, the premenstrual time was the highest desire, period the lowest, and oddly enough, ovulation second lowest. The days right before the period, so intense, everything felt so much and so good, then a sharp and sudden drop, no desire, migraine headache and sex not an attractive idea. The sharp drop in hormones that let ovulation and menstruation happen were always accompanied by a lack of desire for sex, for me.

Physically the cervix is at its lowest point too, and hitting that can cause cramping, but mostly it was just the absolute not wanting to.

I just want to say that “get fucked” is a somewhat offensive term imo 😅 It implies a power dynamic where the man is doing the fucking and the woman only gets fucked. I think a better way to ask this would be “Why shouldn’t women fuck…” Or “have sex” etc 😊

As for your question, generally speaking there is no absolute reason not to have sex during your period, but there are some things that can make it harder/unpleasant for some period having people ⚧️

    • The blood adds friction, so you might need more lube to keep it pleasant
    • the vagina might be sensitive so it might make it painful
    • the cramping and general symptoms of a period might just make them not in the mood for it, but it could also do the opposite and make them horny.
    • And obviously the blood can make the sex more messy.
    • etc

So very individual, i would just define it as just a situation that is different from the “norm” 😄

And a quick note about culture. There are many cultures and religions that define the period as “dirty” in some way and some even go as far as forbidding a man from touching a woman if she is on her period. Fuck that misogynistic bullshit.

Period sex is a thing. Nothing wrong or dangerous in it, if the woman in question wants to have it. It does require a bit more preparation and a lot more cleanup but it can be really fun.

Some women become more sensible during their period and can achieve orgasm faster. Others don’t even want to be touched and are instead very receptive to ice cream and pain medication. It varies from one woman to the next.

Some religious and cultural beliefs prohibit or discourage it.

Beyond that, there’s no reason why someone having a period can’t have sex. It just might be messy.
