I agree, I’ve always thought Silent Hill is the best looking game of the PS1/N64 era.
Now what this needs is a remake that removes all of the charm and atmosphere

I never had a PS1 but had always heard of this game and wanted to play it, so I did it on emu a few years ago. Thought it was pretty cool… gameplay wise, kind like the evolution of the Genesis game Flashback.
Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid make very, very good use of PS1 hardware and the stylistic choices just enhance that. The abstract textures of silent hill make everything look fleshy or rusty. MGS has that cool shadowy look which is perfect for sneaking.
I am playing through it at the moment.
