I’ve seen this claim in two news stories with no evidence. I just followed her effortlessly using these steps:

    • Tap search button in bottom menu
    • Type “Kamala Harris” and hit submit
    • Tap first search result
    • Tap follow button in upper right

    It worked without a problem

It is ridiculous that we have gotten to the point that completely clearly pointing out that an article is BS gets downvoted. Do better lemmyites.

Just because it’s working fine for you now doesn’t mean the article is false. You anecdotal experience does not retroactively change the past.

And a single person who writes what they know you want to hear is absolute proof. We know how you think.

I mean, the story linked above includes a screenshot showing the rate-limiting error message. I assume it’s been fixed, but no reason to think the rate limit error didn’t actually happen.

no reason to think the rate limit error didn’t actually happen

        • I didn’t say that it didn’t happen
        • I reported my experience
        • I can think of at least two reasons to fake this story: (1) Harris gained a follower when I performed my test, same as the millions of others seeing this story, (2) bad story about Musk for the Musk haters

So maybe it’s true, maybe it isn’t. I haven’t seen evidence other than the claim of someone who supposedly follows thousands of people but hadn’t yet followed the vice president.

Not saying it is true, not saying it isn’t. Saying it might not be, and my own observation doesn’t replicate the claim.

It was a rate limit for someone following too many people. Anyone can go follow her no problem. The person writing this article know there are morons out there that will eat up and share anything vaguely anti-musk.
