This really depends on the person. For some, there’s benefit to the ritual and then again for the “tidy” bed occupying their space. For others, it doesn’t matter.

My personal opinion is if you tend to not be in your bedroom except to sleep then it doesn’t matter, but if you spend much time in there then making the bed is beneficial.

It might be region dependent then. In my neck of the woods foreign workers are specifically brought in to work the minimum wage jobs that no local would work for the low pay and bad treatment. They’re really taken advantage of as their ability to stay in the country is tied to their employer (often their employer is even their landlord too) and it’s all on the books and legal, but suppresses wages while also raising demand so prices go up despite the stagnating wages.

I guess we may be talking about different things as temporary foreign workers aren’t technically immigrants? It’s meant to be temporary I guess, but even if they don’t get their permanent residency if they’re swapped out for a new person to abuse the effect is the same or worse.

Yeah I think that’s the intention, but it looks like they are holding the phone away from their mouth so the body language combined with the ambiguous text can easily be interpreted as them just talking to themselves out loud as the phone rings for the 10th time or goes to voicemail.

The joke would be more clear if they’re just talking to themselves without the phone at all. It looks like they could be talking to themselves while the phone has been ringing for a long time or going to voicemail.

Or you could change the text so it’s more clear they’re talking to someone on the phone and not to themself. Something like “yeah, they didn’t answer” in the first panel.

I use an adblocker, but would like to financially support the creators that create the content I consume. Blank CDs back in the day supposedly had a surcharge built in to cover piracy and I like the idea of something like that. Not sure how it would work, maybe some sort of “toll” system where instead of an ad I pay the amount the advertisers did to not see it.

There’s no way that advertisers are paying as much as it would cost me to subscribe to everything, so why can’t I pay that amount to serve myself “blank” (nonexistent) ads? Or just an extra surcharge that goes to creators and I’ll just keep using the adblocker guilt free.

Can we also add a surcharge so I never have to see an ad again?
