Yes. Those are examples of science being done unethically. Science itself is a process that is ethically neutral so it can be used in both good and bad ways. That doesn’t make it unethical by nature like the original post claims it is.

And scientific study is unethical… How?
Yes, humans tend to explain things they don’t understand using myths. And yes, humans have historically used those same myths to explain morality. How does it then follow that religion and spiritualism are required for morality to exist?
I get where you’re coming from. I used to think the same thing. I don’t anymore and I would urge you to look more into subjective vs objective morality. Alex O’Connor has some really good thoughts on the matter.
Nobody can afford a fucking road trip right now
Unfortunately that’s my dad :/
I have tried to convince him that undocumented immigrants do, in fact, have rights and I don’t think it’s worked.
Yeah some people will scoff at the most adorable look imaginable lmao. Dude just doesn’t know what good taste is
I met some of the nicest old people at the protest yesterday. Maybe you just have a bad sample set in your area
Looks to me like that market has plenty of vitality
Flatpak
I know a guy who got seriously mad that kids drew hearts in the dust on his f350. Sir, if you are concerned about the paint on your vehicle being scratched, sell your truck and get a car.
It’s possible but unfortunately when people have spent their entire lives with religion being their (seemingly) only source of happiness, it can be really hard for them to find a different source.
To be honest, I don’t think a lot of people are ready. It’s a hard thing to deconstruct your faith and if you’re not careful it can take you to some really dark places. For a lot of people it’s the way they find meaning and solace in a world of pain. Ultimately if you can find that comfort without tying it to religion that’s better but not everyone can. That’s my take on it post-deconversion
That’s what other federated services like Matrix are for. Maybe there could be an ActivityPub chatroom service but Lemmy is not and will never be that.
I can guarantee MacOS will not run on that computer
Edit: I was not aware that ARM macOS worked on Intel chips
I had a lot of fun with some new friends today and I’m feeling good :)
Well it’s literally the app named “software” and this is a programming school so someone’s bound to find out
There are plenty of Minecraft launchers in the flatpak store so you might wanna make sure they’re not taking advantage of that lol
I think one of the best phrases I’ve heard from the atheist community is “Do No Harm”. Very similarly, the Golden Rule, which almost every civilization has a version of, says “Do to others that which you would have them do to you”. Beyond that, there are no rules one must abide by. If you would wish others to stand up for you when you cannot, then do so for them. If you wish that people would help you when you are in need, do so to them.
Ultimately, you create your own meaning from the little things you find joy in and if you follow the Golden Rule then you can help others do the same.
I was so fucking confused lol
