Green Energy@slrpnk.net•Europeans are making the most of cheap solar panels – by creating green garden fences
31·2 days agoI don’t know what kind of failed state you live in (Haiti?), but I am near 100% certain that they would be fine in any residential neighbourbood that I previously lived in and that includes places in 3rd world countries. There would be probably a higher risk of them being stolen than intentionally damaged.

Green Energy@slrpnk.net•Europeans are making the most of cheap solar panels – by creating green garden fences
3·2 days agoA bit of graffitty should be ok, and solarpanels are surprisingly sturdy against physical attacks. But honestly, in a typical residential neighbourhood you will be probably fine.

5·2 days agoShitty webdesign. The arrows left and right cycle through videos and you probably accidentially pushed one of them before trying to watch the actually related video.

Green Energy@slrpnk.net•Europeans are making the most of cheap solar panels – by creating green garden fences
7·2 days agoYeah, it is a bit crazy and even if you are doing it yourself, the mounting often costs more than the panels these days, especially for roof mounts.
With parks in between and maybe block designs that include interior shared green-spaces that seems very compatible with dense housing. On the contrary, dense housing uses less surface area per inhabitant (due to stacking apartments vertically) thus there is more space left for trees in between.

Technology@lemmy.world•AMD ‘had to re-engineer’ the Ryzen 7 5800X3D for a re-release — 10th Anniversary Edition chip had ‘a whole body of engineering work’ put into itEnglish
69·6 days agoThe specific chip is only 4 years or so old. The 10 years refers to the Ryzen series first release.
Why this specific chip? It is the fastest available for the older AM4 socket + DDR4 combination, so it is highly sought after by people upgrading their older rig without having to buy new expensive DDR5 RAM or a new mainboard.
Out instance on https://movim.slrpnk.net/ will be of course updated when time allows, but I am currently busy with another project and want to switch to a better container image for Movim as well (sorry for the current image preview issues).

14·7 days agoThere used to be a women’s space on slrpnk.net (although a bit unfortunately named after a controversial Reddit community), but we could never really find women willing to moderate it longer term and the amount of dudes showing up with trollish comments became a bit too much for us admins to handle.

They started to get really pushy about the premium features, so I removed it again.
This comes close to reinventing monastic orders.
There is a cool sci-fi book about this idea. Not exactly Solarpunk, but some aspects are overlapping.

53·25 days agoPin a tab in your browser. Almost no difference to a desktop app that is a web-wrapper in most cases (and would be for sure for Movim).

History written by the winners is ok according to you as long as you agree with it. That is really funny.
Being critical of sources is paramount in historical research 🤷
More fan-fiction and post-hoc justifications. You seriously need to read some historically accurate accounts of what happened at the time.
Taking over state power by raising a militia is not organizing. Even Castro famously agreed with that.
Sorry but more circular logic is not gonna cut it. If a group of people no matter their original class decide that they are better suited to rule than others and ursurp power then they declare themselves monarchs and certainly do not represent the working class.
More historical inaccuracies. The first people the Bolshevik purged were people that naively thought they were on the same side.
And no, the original Soviets wanted to create self-administered communities and work-places. Taking over centralized state power makes no sense with that goal in mind.

I know someone that runs Ubuntu Touch as his daily driver on a FP5 and seems to be happy with it.
