Sharing was always the default for humankind. Copyright was meant as an exception and incentive to allow investing money and time for authoring something, and getting that back by having a brief monopoly on the work.

US has been building soft power like this for decades, and Trump is pissing it all away.
If this process to get rid of dependency on US gets well underway, there’s no turning that ship. US won’t recover the position it had in fifty years or more.

Hot water is pretty expensive. Even if you are not worried about the phone, you may want to consider the impact on the environment (and your finances).

Good article.
Currently passkeys are too much of a vendor lock-in to big tech.
Bitwarden support alone does not change that.

What allies?

Feature, not an issue.
I don’t dispute that, but can you point to the relevant law?

We need smartphones that we can actually own and control. Root access with locked bootloader and good security.
I have used a lot of OnePlus devices, but can’t recommend it since OnePlus has exited EU market. I doubt their firmware support continues as before. OxygenOS 16 seems to have issues on many models.
It’s also getting harder and harder to root phones and get even basic Play Integrity to pass. Google and device manufacturers are closing up Android, and I don’t like it at all. Some manufacturers (Samsung and Honor?) don’t even allow unlocking the bootloader.
I don’t know what I would go for next. I’d rather not but new phone at all, it seems old ones are better. But maybe second hand Pixel with GrapheneOS, at least it has manual native call recording.
We don’t own the devices we buy anymore.

Maybe the old feature was keyword bookmarks, not sure.
Wrong. Signal servers don’t know of group members.

GPS jamming by Iran may be news. Meanwhile, Russia has been doing it all the time.

Arrrr, they don’t.
Signal is run by a non-profit. Moxie has integrity. And the software is open source.
There are more safeguards than in case of proprietary apps of for-profit companies.
So, germans have a foot fetish?
What about false positives? Or a process to challenge them?
But yes, I agree with the general idea.
So, how many of these Rust “rewrites” have kept the original license?
