I tried running Bazzite for a few months, but just kept running into one weird issue after another. Went to Endeavor and they all went away overnight.

I’m technical enough that I can configure Arch from scratch, but simply can’t be bothered. I just need my computer to work. Every day.

I felt like when I was working with Arch, and I’m sure it’s operator error, it was like maintaining a starship with a dozen systems that could individually go wrong and I was responsible for all of them. Endeavor was fully setup with no weirdness in less than 30 minutes.

  • Depending on who you’re with, you can try calling their support and explaining what you’re looking for. I always tell them “I need to disable routing and have my gateway act like a modem. It should give a public IP directly to my router.” This should explain in layman’s to any technician what you’re looking for and they’ll be able to tell you if it can be done. If you’re with a cable or DSL provider, also ask about options to provide your own equipment. This can save you money in the long run, too, if you’re renting the hardware through them at the moment.

  • I’ve never heard of Zardos personally, but it sounds like you’re looking for movies that have deep significance and application to the real world. My number one recommendation is Waking Life. It is a movie that thoroughly explores what it means to be human all without imposing any specific viewpoint or agenda.

It’s a series of borderline interviews taken from all walks of life and then rotoscoped into a beautiful dream sequence.

I can find ways that it’s relevant to just about every day of my life. It’s packed full of serious challenging conversations about the self, spirituality, morality and mankind.

If this isn’t the type of thing you’re looking for, maybe elaborate a bit more on what you mean.

  • I’ve heard it both ways that in PEMDAS, it’s really more like P,E,MD,AS. As in, when you reach the multiplication and division steps, it’s assumed you do them together in written order, followed by addition and subtraction after.

And like you said, the real-world measurement will actually end up dictating the order, but if this distinction needed to be made, you would separate as necessary with more parentheses.

  • You’re not wrong, hence my mention about them being no saint. But you can’t argue the fact the with all of the open standards available, none of them work nearly as well as Apple’s implementations. I say this using both Mac and Linux interchangeably on a daily basis. They each have their strengths and weaknesses. When I need a space for creative work, I use my Mac. When I need a space for gaming or experimental software or programming, I use Linux. When I’m feeling masochistic, I save a VM of Windows Me for late nights when the roommate’s not around.
