Technology@lemmy.world•Remote workers report the highest well-being in study of 7,700 employees: while those who worked entirely onsite reported the lowest.English
43·12 days agoI feel like this is a pretty useless study, this is going to be entirely subjective what you prefer. Optionality gives a lot of upside, more than either extreme.
Personally I prefer being in the office, better for my focus, my likely (undergoing diagnosis) ADHD as fuck brain, but I also have dynamic work hours so I can simply avoid peak traffic.
That being said, if I was required to be in the office everyday at a set time e.g 9 to 5 I would fucking quit.
You would have a point, but they don’t actually speak my Native language as I am of Hungarian descent and that’s my mother’s tongue.
I also spent 10 years in Czechia both studied there then worked there for a few years.
So I can compare, I’d say definitely Czechia > Slovakia, it’s just that my family is in Slovakia.
Basically anything that’s bread/or baked that’s a few hours old and started to dry out.
Not everything as some things hold up well, others I don’t like.
Also potato that you air fried but then took to work and reheated, F that.
Also plain rice as it gets a few hours old

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Why people Pirate?English
18·19 days agoFun fact: in my country (Slovakia) it’s totally legal to download things. It’s the uploading it back that’s seen as illegal, so as long as you have a paid private torrent site where you can hit’n’run you are not breaking any laws.
I don’t, my day us shifted, so I commute later, instead of like an hour and a half my commute is 50 minutes (which is still a lot for a European) but in exchange I live in my hometown
That’s literally the first time I heard that hungarian version, that’s not what we use, we use “az isten háta mögött” which is “behind gods back” to refer to places in bumfuck nowhere

Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•US Energy Secretary: “I'm thrilled to report that tomorrow morning, on July 4th, we will end subsidies for wind and solar projects”English
15·2 months agoIf you replaced all the corn that’s being grown for bio-fuels with photovoltaics you could meet the energy needs of the US, technology connections has a great video
You should probably watch this
Yep, season 2 is destroyed by the CW writers and the blackhole of charisma that is Anthony Mackie
Yes, it makes it sound like it was scientists against an idiotic government and that the scientists didn’t have any hand in it, when in fact they did.
There is a great video about it on youtube but there is no way I can find it.
Utopia is so fucking good. Probably the closest to a flawless tv show
Chernobyl is great, but if you look into it’s basically retelling russian propaganda that this was individuals fault rather than a matter of when not if tragedy.

Also 70K net or gross is quite a big difference.
Also me not having kids and commuting using an EV that’s charged at almost entirely by solar/nuclear means I am well below that threshold.
Where I live district heating also comes from geothermal heat.
