  • My last one was because the boss was an asshole and I decided I don’t need the money that much, I saved some and went back to finish university.

But end of this year will be because business is slow and they have many people on the bench here in Korea and because the labor laws are very strong they can’t fire them, so they’re liquidating the Korean entity to be able to fire those people. And I’m collateral damage, even though I’ve never been on the bench and made them a lot of money, brought in new customers, and’ve been working for them for the last 12 years, it doesn’t matter.

  • I mean this is the obvious use case for AI, you know they have those digital price tags in supermarkets it’s perfect for this to combine with AI so depending who is looking at this price tag it changes, but in a way so you don’t see it changing. I’m not saying it’s already implemented but it’s the obvious thing to do.

Online it’s already much easier to do because you’re logged in to Amazon with your purchase history, etc. and you are the only one looking at the price tag, so no real need for AI there, but in a physical shop it will also be introduced, just like McDonald is ‘pioneering’ here.

They should never released Black Mirror, too many dystopian ideas there.

  • About 10 years ago, I worked at Palagicore, which was a small IT company, like a startup. We had about 20 people, and once a month or something we had a team-building event. We did things like laser tag, chocolate tasting, cheese tasting, go-kart driving and stuff like that.

Every time, someone else had to plan it, come up with what to do, get the venue and all those things. And then it was my turn.

So I came up with the idea that we would make sausages at the office kitchen. We were around 20 people, so I think we bought about 20 kilos of meat, basically one kilo per person. We also bought some cheap hand meat grinders and those machines where you put the sausage into the casing, I think about five of each.

After work, we spent about four or five hours in the office kitchen making sausages. Everybody was involved, except the vegetarians, who later got some vegan sausages. After we were done, we grilled the sausages on the rooftop and had German beer, sauerkraut and sourdough bread.

The idea was that everybody would eat some sausages and then take the rest of their one kilo of sausage home for their family. But in the end, everybody only got about half a kilo home, because we were so hungry after working on it for so long that we basically ate half a kilo each.

It was also pretty difficult because the machines were cheap and nobody really knew how to use them. I was basically going from group to group, showing people how to make the sausages and telling them what they were doing wrong.

One group was working really hard with the meat grinder, pushing and grinding and grinding, but almost nothing was coming out. The third time I came by, I thought, “Wow, they have so little done. What’s going on?” So I looked at their meat grinder and tried it myself, but basically nothing was coming out.

I disassembled it and then saw what was wrong: they hadn’t put in the knives. There’s a knife inside the grinder that cuts the meat and pushes it through the holes, but they had forgotten to put it in. So they had been grinding and grinding for about an hour without the knife. Once they put it in, everything worked much better.

The important info you left out, what grinder you used and the settings!

I’ve had a espresso machine back in Sweden, I bought it just half a year before I then suddenly moved to South Korea. Here for the past 5 years I didn’t have any so I’ve been using a simple filter coffee machine machine with a build in cheap grinder. It was OK, but I’ve been telling my wife about the amazingness of espresso etc. so this year she ordered a espresso machine for my birthday. But because it’s a special thing coming from Italy with a special color, etc. one month after my birthday it still didn’t arrive even though she ordered it 2 months before my birthday :D

Anyway the grinder arrived on my birthday and it’s a really nice one, so I started using it and switched from the filter coffee machine to the Italian Mocca Pot I bought when I moved, but never really used because I didn’t have a separate grinder. With this new grinder the coffe from the mocca pod is amazing! So much more flavour, and intescity because it really can now do it’s magic. So it’s a good bridge until the machine arrives.
