Like what? I feel like in my day there would’ve been some serious outbursts

Not a single artist I listen to and none I really respect. Bunch of washed up nobodies too

The Russian play book.

I won’t win any fans with this. But this write up is abysmal. Anyone reading this can see the immensely aggressive slant.
Completely ignores the EU acting in the same fashion it portrays Russia, in their own interests. It repeatedly tries to frame one as defensive(Russia) and the other as interfering(“the West”/EU).
Euromaidan, the Maidan Uprising is portrayed as a far right operation. I’ve even heard people here refer to it as a color revolution, a go-to action to discredit revolution movements someone doesn’t like. Referring to it as a far right coup is wildly insane. The amount of people involved and the complete unity by many different people in Ukraine just blows that narrative away. By also framing it as a “far right coup” they’re glossing over a massively important other side of this movement.
The other side of the movement. This whole write up portrays Russia’s actions as defensive and innocent. HUGE red flag for anyone who can read history or understand human perception. It is the equivalent of two kids in a fight and one claiming their violence was self defense when it was not. What about before any of this that lead up to this? Russia camping it’s fleet in the black sea by Crimea and treating Ukraine as a proxy for influence of their own, something this write up claims the EU was trying to do. What about the Tuzla Island dispute? What about Russia’s war with Georgia for moving away from Russian influence? They had been building up an army far long before this NATO influence in Ukraine and expressed what they would do when a former Soviet Republic moves away from their influence. Fast forward and as soon as Yanukovych is removed from power, Russia invaded and took Crimea. Russia is showing immense aggression in the reason, framing themselves as defending themselves is completely a farce there’s no way to argue it any other way. It’s important to note also Yanukovych was not the only person in the government, under his presidency the Ukrainian government might’ve pushed towards some relationship with the EU but he is widely considered completely pro-Russia. It’s important to note Yanukovych now lives in Russia today. The Maidan Uprising started because Yanukovych refused to sign the EU association agreement.
Russia itself was funding far right, conservative and monarchist separatists in Ukraine. Dmitry Rogozin, Igor Girkin and Konstantin Malofeev, Viktor Medvedchuk. They’re all very easily googable names that play a huge role in all of this to understand how saying “Ukrainian far right nazis” is a fucking joke. While their ideologies are probably individually different, Viktor Medvedchuk is a Russian stooge Putin is his daughter’s godfather, Dmitry Rogozin is a far right ultra nationalist, Igor Girkin another far right ultranationalist who committed war crimes against Bosnians that you’d probably call ethnic cleansing, Konstantin Malofeev a financier who denies the ethnic existence of Ukrainians. So when Russia tries to say far right nazis, what the fuck are they talking about? What is a Nazi? What is the far right? These people are all deeply tied to Russia’s actions in Ukraine, they’re very clearly far right themselves and a few of them engaged directly in the financing of ethnic erasure or straight up went out and ethnically cleansed areas, that’s what a Nazi fucking does. Russian mercenary companies specifically have been seen engaging in ethnic cleansing operations in Mali, Wagner and the African Corps have both engaged in executions, torture, forced displacement and disproportionate killings of the Fulani people in Mali. So it’s completely invalid any time someone says “Ukrainian far right nazis” cause Russia is doing the same shit? Who the hell is Russia to claim they’re fighting nazis? Absolutely a joke of an argument.
But ALL OF THIS IS IRRELEVANT. The simple fact is Ukrainians united and overwhelming supported ousting Yanukovych because he was fighting against what the Ukrainian people wanted and attempted to subvert their democracy by refusing to sign a document that has overwhelming support and the response from Russia was instant aggression, which they displayed the same in Georgia and again in Crimea which belonged to Ukraine in the first place.
Not even to mention to blantant lies in that post. Both sides violated the ceasefire of the Misnk agreement, Russia also presents itself as a mediator in the conflict while directly supplying these separatist factions with weapons and financing.
I understand you didn’t write it, but it’s a joke of a write up and anyone with half a mind could read that and see the complete and abysmal effort to slant it all to make Russia appear innocent which is laughable when they’re playing the same imperialist game they’ve always played.
Edit; Lemmy has trash formatting

Users in .ml are so silly.
Most of you I assume identify or support socialism right? Why Russia then? Because they once were a communist country? Because China is allied with them?
I see a lot of support for Palestine from .ml users but hate towards Ukraine. What’s the difference there? Why is one invasion acceptable and even supported but another not?
It makes no fuckin sense. Russia is an oligarchy, Putin is a warlord. Why do y’all want to support that it’s pathetic.

Fuck your infographic bullshit lmfao

I think mods on reddit used to be worse honestly. Maybe like a decade ago or slightly more. Just my opinion though.
Mods here be fuckin losers though tbh. Like just shut up and remove the spam bots you dweebs

I don’t disagree Nixon was huge but I think it goes from before that.
I personally really think it started directly at the start with the creation of the political parties, something Washington foresaw but also the establishment of America by the wealthy slave owning elite made this direction inevitable. But we could argue a lot about that.
Andrew Johnson’s presidency and the assassination of Lincoln left scars that never healed and created the mould that I think the conservative base still stems from. Ever heard that quote “the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat, but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires” I really think there’s a weirdo psychic hole these people experienced without even being fully aware. A lot of them come from former slave owning rich families and that underlying knowledge they used to have wealth did something to them.
You can also look at the wannabe coup against FDR, the Business Plot, rich fucks basically wanted to overthrow FDR.
Those three things to me really set the groundwork and then marches in Allen Dulles and his CIA. In a conversation with Charles de Gaulle, JFK admitted he didn’t have control over the intelligence apparatus which was plotting to assassinate de Gaulle.
Then marches in Nixon and not soon after Reagan. The culture divide from the dawn of America, the humiliated and now destitute former slave owners with generational anger, the tycoons and their confidence to plot and peel away at democracy, a compromised intelligence apparatus with a black budget likely stemming from drug and human trafficking which they are in charge of investigating.
Suddenly the whole scene is set. The wealthy get their Epsteins, their cocaine, the means to hide it, the political pawns to support it and an ignorant, desperate base to use as their voting bloc. Gerrymandering only makes it all too easy especially with the broken representation system where smaller populations literally have more voting weight.
Government transparency, wealth distribution and strong social safety nets to reinforce education and healthcare, ranked voting, an end to gerrymandering and a heavy blow to how votes matter are, to me, the first steps to start fixing some of this shit.
I agree they’re running low on fuel. But a cornered rat and all that.

Just fuckin kill em ffs.

I think it’s more that by asking there were more questions that writers wanted to answer, no?
It’s like d&d once you ask for the merchant’s name they suddenly have a whole life behind them

Like a skinwalker or something

Alright real question though. Didn’t Romans use it to whiten teeth and doesn’t it help with athletes foot or something?
Not saying use piss there are other probably better alternatives just heard these before and am curious about their veracity
Always my thought when people talk about anything that results in injury or death.
Like if that’s our concern there’s this big fucking issue we should probably tackle first.

Infrastructure to do this already exists it’s very easy for them to bail wall street out cause they’ve done it plenty of times before.
Not saying it is okay but change isn’t exactly instant for all things.

My nationalistic ego? I’m literally talking about the things the US has done wrong. I’m telling you there are two sides of the coin and acting like the US is unique in these actions or completely a Disney villain is for edgelord 15 year olds who don’t understand what happened in history and how we ended up here with such a dominant and cruel version of the US.
America only ‘helps’ countries when it aligns with its broader strategic goals.
Lol as opposed to who? Financially no other country has ever matched the support the US has applied against the world, the EU might be the only entity that has come close and you could say China has also invested overseas but not to the same degree or for the same amount of time. Outside of that, other countries tend to be pretty selfish or not have the monetary strength to do the same.
Your portrayal is one of boo hoo America. I just listed to you like a dozen things the world benefited from this relationship. I also just listed to you the same exact behavior China has also employed of acting out of its own interest. So what the fuck are you talking about? Absolutely brain dead my guy.

In the wake of WWII, America set up a global system that bent the whole world to its service.

Real footage of FDR and Truman sealing away the world in a single night.
Yes. The US used it’s new position as a global leader to leverage itself into a strong position. As I said before this is exactly how you’d expect any country to act.
They helped rebuild Europe, helped establish NATO and the World Bank, the WHO, , and were able to spread US cultural to the globe. Just as any single country would’ve done. Over the next century they managed to continue developing that same game plan. This genuinely helped stabilize the globe.
The civil rights activists in the US ironically also formulated the blueprint for oppressed people across the world to fight for their civil rights in the era that followed alongside the Nuremberg Trials.
They also leveraged their military might to set up a new type of colonialism in countries like Greece, Guatemala, Korea and Vietnam, among others.
You’re desire to continue to paint the US as this big bad creature that only wanted to conquer is genuinely ignorance. I’ll repeat what I said, the US acted exactly like I’d expect any other country to act. It is not black and white, it is history which is almost always grey.
But no it’s everyone else who’s had it too cushy for too long.
Uhh what the fuck are you talking about? When I said this in referring directly to the US being too cushy for too long.

Look I’m not arguing with you this is reality. Your position is clearly one of “boo hoo America” which is very not unique and your attempt to make people defend the US is silly.
Being asked by multiple countries for the last century to show up and help restore order, relied upon to ensure people have a degree of safety, food and water while providing means to fight some of the worst illnesses affecting the world is absolutely being looked to as a “global police force”
When Pol Pot was committing a genocide people asked why US didn’t continue to fight it, as the Rwandan genocide was happening America was expected to be doing something about it, when the Syrian civil war broke out and chemical weapons were used people asked why the US didn’t act, as Ukraine and Palestine are being genocided people literally curse America for not doing more. It is a constant expectation to act because the US has the means to act. You’re gonna tell me all the reasons X, Y and Z why it is their fault or something but if they did act you’d consider it them dredging up more soft power. So which is it?
On the same line why hasn’t China stopped the Palestinian genocide? Why didn’t China stop funding Pol Pot’s genocide? Why didn’t China stop selling weapons that contributed to the Rwandan genocide? Why doesn’t China stop funding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine? Why doesn’t China stop their predatory loans to Sri Lanka and Zambia which is causing an economic collapse? The Democratic Republic of Congo has 7 million people displaced because of fighting over minerals like cobalt that China buys, they’re literally funding that violence too. I guess China is allowed to engage in growing soft power at the cost of blood because of whatever dumb reason? You’re not running around in these comments crying about any of that.
Your views and expectations of these countries are different, and you don’t understand your own perspective in that.
The argument isn’t did the US benefit. It’s not “what was their motive”. The fact is other countries relied upon the US and asked for aid often. Literally just the truth, spin it however you like to fit your world view that’s fine but your position is transparent and very ignorant trying to frame everything as black and white because you have a single legume rolling around your skull in place of a brain.
The US can both be the reason why smallpox, polo and the guinea worm aren’t tearing through society and also have a history of terrible imperialist actions. The US is completely capable of dispensing aid and protection while also using that as a political resource. The world isn’t full of infinite resources, you scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours is probably the oldest human understanding.
Both China and the US and every other country operates exactly how I’d expect them to. So go on with your buts and denials, they’re silly. It’s “I got my opinion on Reddit and lack any complex thinking America bad!”

Uhh disaster relief? Humanitarian aid? The US military might be one of the best logistical avenues for dispersing aid in the world.
Militarily - Iraq under Obama. Liberia in 2000. Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the 90s. The Philippines multiple times. Lebanon and South Korea in the 50s. Most notably WWII.
Those are the ones off the top of my head.
Despite what the Internet wants to tell you about American intervention, it is often requested by governments under threat.
You’re gonna snap back about something something imperialism I can feel it but as I said above, most Americans don’t really want to be doing that at all. It is often America is looked to for aid both humanitarian and militarily and for good reason, the Ebola outbreak, various famines, the United States dedicated more effort to eradicating AIDS/HIV and malaria. So yeah. People looked to America for help quite often.

I’m not saying it was. There was an expectation from allies to act as such.
Intentional or incompetent? Probably both
