  • Even if you are completely correct and this person conspired against you; holding onto this is not great for your mental health.

The best thing for you is to acknowledge that you were hurt by this and accept that. Then move on, what they did was about them and not you.

From your text, it could be that they were just selfish and you were collateral damage. My advice stands, give yourself the freedom to move on.

  • As a father of three boys. This is enforced far more by the mother’s of girls than anyone else.

My oldest made friends almost exclusively with girls before he was five. Without fail mother’s would move their girls away and toward other girls. This happened in a few situations, both structured and unstructured environments.

When it was dad’s with daughters, it was only about 1/4 of the time, and mums or dad’s with sons never did.

I have seen it the other way also, where boys were steered to other boys, but it was far less often.

I used to go to a men’s only yoga class, I was far more comfortable there than in a mixed class. The class was discontinued, not because of lack of interest… but because the instructor got pregnant, it never restarted. She was a great instructor very professional and targeted the exercises to men’s problem areas.

Men’s only spaces are important, as much as women’s spaces. Men’s mental health is often overlooked, and men’s spaces are an easy way for men to vent about shit that is bothering them.

Also “our current time” is a little strange, history it’s full of segregated spaces, even of just by social convention. Our current time is far more accepting of mixing than a lot of history.

  • What wakes you?

My partner has an issue, where she is tired and falls asleep. But because something is worrying her, she wakes with thoughts ruminanting in her mind. This will go on night after night until she deals with the thing she is worrying about.

If this is happening to you, see what you can do to deal with the worrying situation.

I had severe insomnia (10-15hrs/week) in my teens and early 20’s, I couldn’t get to sleep, so maybe not applicable. But what finally cracked it for me was rock climbing, I’d go after work and climb until physical exhaustion, climbing is good because it forces you to think about the climb as well as exercise. I’d go home after and have a cool shower and a very light meal. I ate my big meals early in the day.

I am still a short sleeper, I only get 4-6hours (average 5:15) per night.

If you assume that physics works similarly, in the world of avatar as in ours.

The fact that a spacefaring civilisation won’t extract the mineral from asteroids, in a significantly more efficient manner, means that the mineral is not the only goal.

As shown in the second movie, biopiracy is a big motivating factor.

Looking at the tech shown, I would surmise that biopiracy is the primary motivator.

The humans in the movies are masters of biological manipulation. They can make a fully functional alien body, also splicing in human DNA; easily enough that they make quite a few in the first movie. These bodies are close enough to the original that they can breed.

The motivation to extend their mastery of biological manipulation has to be huge.

2001 first introduced to Fedora (1?) A friend installed on my laptop. Used it for a little; but it didn’t do the things I wanted. A little while later I was back on XP.

I tried Ubuntu 6.04; it wasn’t ready. Back to XP.
I tried Ubuntu 8.04; it was really close. Back to XP.
I tried Ubuntu 10.04; and have had Linux ever since. I have jumped to various distros over the years, I kept coming back to Mint though. I currently have a couple of computers running Bazzite and the rest on Mint.

I do keep Windows VM’s around; XP, 7 and 10. But they barely get turned on these days.

I haven’t had Windows installed on a machine in 16 years; even in 09 it only lasted a couple of months till I got time to replace it.

    As an outsider.

The EU represents, to me, he only power in the world that has a mostly people focused existence.

China, currently, is about the glory of China and the ‘legacy’ of Xi.

USA; is all about American exceptionalism. Trump is driving significant instability; he care only for Trump.

So work out your differences; be the adult in the room. Help your people, the rest of us need your stability.

As a side note; Putin is like a scorned lover, the USSR was a big player on the international stage. He resents that Russia is no longer that important. It seems like his expansionist tendencies are to get back to the world power status they once enjoyed.
