Hey, I get it. The internet is full of trigger words, and implied meanings behind them. We try and say things on the internet against a dictionary backdrop full of hidden meanings, and people fight in the corners about what those meanings are. It’s like trying to send a messenger through no-mans land in WW1.
I don’t know how it all came to this, where everyone fights about every little nuance in wording, but it’s tiring (not pointing fingers at you). Why can’t people just have a normal conversation, and give others the benefit of the doubt? Again, not directed at you. I just miss people having honest conversations online, without it devolving into slapfights. Everyone is SO dug into their opinions.
I’m showing my age, aren’t I?
I’m probably more centerist than your average punk. I am definitely liberal, but not hard left. That’s beside the point when it comes to violence.
On violence - you can post whatever “fuck the government/system/police” memes you want, but you can’t post 'hehe got my local MP a little surprise for Christmas 🥰😘 picture of pipe bomb" style content here. You cannot call for people to hurt other people, even if you’re ‘joking’.
Personally, I don’t see violence as a means to an end. I don’t see it as acceptable because it just perpetuates itself, and once it starts the lines of morality get very blurry very fast. If anything, it just entrenches the opposing side and strengthens their resolve.

Yeah, but weirdos aren’t just straight. Tons of gay sexual predators, too, so the whole bathroom issue is a nothing burger.
Once again, we go on and off about protecting kids but do absolutely nothing to actually achieve that objective.
Not my thing.
I’m more into the femme fatale thing - a woman who won’t try and fix me, but try to make me worse, or promise my demise.
Trying to get Wendussy is right in that second camp

This decline “does not reflect lower demand for the content,” said Kristin Roberts, president of USA Today Media. “What it reflects is lower referrals from traditional search because of those consumer discovery changes that we’re seeing and witnessing.”
Which, to me sounds like AI use or links from link aggregator like Reddit/Lemmy
Half sounds lin they are using AI to fix an AI problem.

72·6 days agoWhy is there such a hang up with where people pee or shit? Not to diminish trans struggles, but this should be a non-issue for law makers, not a state-by-state referendum on where a minority of people use the can.
Guy in comic: … Is… Is it pink?
Wendigess: … It’s green, and natuery and natural
Guy: … Yeah… Yeah that makes sense…Awkward silence
Solar punk leaning memes. We aren’t hyper picky, and welcome shitposts from all walks of life provided there’s some sort of connection to solar punk, nature, or ecology.
Anarchism also fits here, as that’s an aspect of solar punk, but it’s not as good of a fit, as some of those memes can be a slippery slope with regards to rebelling against existing systems. By all means, rebel, but calling for violence is off limits as it can indirectly implicate the larger community.
Awww they got married
Honestly, I don’t know. I just dredged it up out of my meme folder.
Nothing, really, other than fitting the vibe to a degree. I don’t want to post it to comics, because they are picky about OS artist credit, it’s not a science meme, it could go in shitposts, but I post just about everything else there, and it’s not a microblog meme.
Oh, we’ve completely fucked ecosystem balance. That said, that doesn’t mean human managed ecosystems are bad, or that actively managing ecosystems is bad. It’s just a lot of work, and you have to figure out what you want that ecosystem to look like and what function it will have.
Arguably, self sustaining (e.g., natural) ecosystems are ideal soley because we don’t have to manage them.
There is also value natural ecosystems because that’s how they evolved, and everything fits nicely, but we’ve long since impacted all ecosystems to some degree so the point is kind of moot.
I agree with a lot of what you said.
We are pretty boned though. Look at COVID - it was actively killing people right in front of our eyes and we still bickered about what the right approach was and squabbled even when we knew it.
Climate change is a slower poison, unfortunately, and humans don’t do well with things that are tomorrow’s problem
I was thinking the other day, we need to get drone tech caught up to the point where we can use it in forest management to catch fires early.
I know forests need to burn, but we need to be able to control them, and manage them with prescribed burns.

424·18 days agoNot going to lie, I like the clean look of the millenial house more. We collectively grew up in clutter, where your grandma would have weird porcelain dolls, or a cabinet to display her fine china.
My grandpa had a taxidermied pheasant, great horned owl, and a coyote pelt on his living room wall.
Nothing wrong with all that, it’s just weird as a kid.
Our parents generation hoarded shit, because their parents lived through the depression. That has its own value but it gets overwhelming.
