  • The images speak for themselves, but every boot-sniffing, spineless suburbanite who conflates what ICE is doing with "law enforcement" and “protection” from “criminals” should take a good hard look at exactly where that leads. Every time.

It’s this right here. Uniformed thugs with rifles getting rid of State-declared “undesirables.”

“But they wouldn’t come after me.” They tell themselves, as that old quote goes.

The cops are doing this too, to the surprise of nobody. I guess terrorism isn’t against the law anymore, as long as you’ve got a uniform and an acronym, apparently.

The fact anybody’s okay with ANYBODY being treated like this on their own soil is a mirror into the rotten depravity that’s taken root in their souls.

  • Ohhhh I think I might have misread your original comment. Were you saying 2/3rds didn’t vote for this , but aren’t meaningfully opposing it?

(In which case me getting updoots on that one for being wrong is a tad confusing but lol internet I guess?)

I would partially disagree in that case though. There’s a lot being done but it’s definitely more quiet than all the damage they’re doing, and the opposition has to move carefully.

There are certainly a lot of weenie politicians that are sticking with the age old strategy of “I’m not like those guys” while tacitly supporting the corruption at the same time, and they need to be fired and replaced as swiftly and ruthlessly as possible with fighters.

  • It looks so dumb playing coy when the whole world knows what’s up.

It’s really bizarre and stupid, and yet it might be one of the best tools for peace in the long run.

Both sides can pretend to ante up, can pretend to posture, can pretend to threaten, under the guise of heated talks and “training exercises”…and then can still have the chance to back down without losing face before any live-fire happens because nobody actually declared what was happening, was happening.

At least I hope this is kinda the case. Either way, it’s infinitely more stupid than simply not picking fights with random territories. But what would I know?

  • I agree. People are understandably distraught and need to vent, even though that venting might not make the most rational sense.

In the end, I think any “capital-S” State power can have fingers pointed at all the ways it’s abused that power regardless of the consent of the governed.

There are still good things people of the US have done (even still doing, however ignored and against the odds), good people are everywhere, and to say “US always bad burn it all” feels like an emotional and lazy take that abdicates the responsibility to combat evil, and lets it run roughshod with a shrug.

We must hope fiercely that we can replace this flawed and exploited system with something better, or we have nothing to fight for. “Something that’s not this” is not good enough and won’t unite people to make a difference.

  • OpenMediaVault is pretty rad. I run it in a VM on a ProxMox machine and it ended up doing all the Docker lifting because the GUI management is just so nice.

I do need to get more CLI-ninja with Docker eventually, but in my experience it’s a very cumbersome and fiddly process.

Unless something breaks and needs more hands-on, I feel like OpenMediaVault’s container interface completely replaces Portainer and smooths the on-ramp for newbie self-hosters.
